How many more families? How many more young lives cut short? A 'treatment' for the risk to young driver crashes was invented in New Zealand in 1984, and our politicians started to debate that in 1993. And in 2024 are still debating it. (Thank you Dr Ian Greenwood). It is one of just FOUR top demands, from 60 leading organisations, for the next government to introduce Graduated Driver Licensing. It's a progressive licensing system to support young drivers by limiting high-risk driving situations, a measure proven to reduce fatalities by up to 40%. It's not a bid to remove freedoms. We need to remind politicians and some in the media that this public health intervention called #GDL saves lives SO that young drivers can have a life filled with freedom. From 0700hrs 11/11/23 a pilot of The Forcer Protocol, designed to speed up the passage of life-saving information when a veteran goes missing, will be in effect across the Greater Manchester Police #GMP area of operation, with a view of being pushed nationwide as soon as feasibly possible. The Protocol allows key information about a veterans well-being to be held centrally by Safe and Found Online and then shared with police immediately when the veteran is identified as missing and at risk. It is the brainchild of Claire Lilly, who lost her veteran husband to suicide while missing, and follows the same structure as other protocols for at risk groups such as children and people living with dementia.
