Mentoring is essential for enhancing diversity and equity in the biomedical workforce by providing underrepresented individuals with tailored support, resources, and guidance, creating pathways for their professional development and success. A mentorship framework fosters an inclusive environment, addresses systemic barriers, and promotes equal opportunities, ultimately contributing to a more representative and equitable biomedical community. #NRMNmentoringMatters #NationalMentoringMonth National Research Mentoring Network The National Institutes of Health

Administrator - Hospital Based Practices & Surgical Services | Creator of Administrative Fellowship Ranking
Does your administrative fellowship program want a data driven analysis for program comparison, relative perspective, and enhancing your program offering? I have a handful of engagements in the works with some of the top fellowship programs nationally. If we haven't already connected, please DM for a time to connect. The analytic review has an aggregated walk-through well beyond general compensation. For example, compared to other programs, what are fellows saying about your preceptors, how much is the larger organizational support affecting your LTR/NPS, what are fellows saying about your structure, etc? Additional commentary will be shared, if it was provided. Cross-sectional analysis with aggregated results have been eye-opening and if I were running a fellowship program, I'd want to know these elements. You manage what you measure. Again, DM me for a time to connect! Tag you program administrators for awareness! #healthcare #healthcareadministration #administrativefellowship #administrativefellowshipranking

Continuing the Get to Know our Fellow's series! 👋 We asked fellows a few questions to get a better understanding of their life experience - how their fellowship has made them look at the world and their own communities differently. We'll be sharing their responses over the next few weeks. If you're interesting in becoming a fellow or learning more about the Fund for Global Health, visit our website. Meet fellow Vivien Wambugu Provide a brief description of yourself. (EX: what you're studying, your career, future career plans, fellowship responsibilities). I am currently working as a Postgraduate Associate at the Yale School of Medicine. Describe one significant thing you’ve learned throughout your fellowship. As an advocate and having the opportunity to participate in the background work necessary to influence foreign aid operations, I am certainly learning a lot. One significant thing I am learning is the importance of civilian advocacy in ensuring and empowering the "right" individuals to sit at the table in order to achieve change that significantly benefits and elevates those we strive to serve and uplift. Civil society and civilian voices remain the backbone and should/must continue to be empowered. Reflecting on your experience as a fellow, describe how your perspective on international primary healthcare has changed. How has your personal experience with the US primary healthcare system shaped your perspective? Although I did my master's in Global Health, and many of my passions and efforts fall into this field, I am constantly learning ways to advance health equity for all, especially those who are underserved and disempowered. When thinking about the benefits of PEPFAR services being integrated into primary healthcare settings, my understanding of the importance of holistic primary care in international and US healthcare systems is heightened. My personal experience with the US healthcare system is that it seems to be becoming more and more specialized and siloed rather than working to achieve quality comprehensive care. I think we, those who participate, lead, or influence the US healthcare system, can learn a lot from international settings and initiatives like the PEPFAR primary care integration goal, where primary care works to address all aspects of health, including prevention, promotion, and education, work in a collaborative and integrative manner. #healthcare #globalhealth #advocacy

Thank you so much to Australian Society for Medical Entrepreneurship & Innovation (ASME) for inviting me to come and speak to medical students at the University of Melbourne Career Expo, to talk about #innovation as a career option for medical doctors. It was a great discussion with Dr Brandon Carp and Dr Anu Ganugapati about our individual journeys with combining #medicine with #health-#care innovation. ✨🚀 Some important lessons and take-aways ☝️☝️☝️ ➡ Medical training fundamentally gives you all the key skills to be an entrepreneur (#problem solving, #leadership, #team #work, #communication..the list goes on👌💥) ➡ Be #curious, open-minded, and think #creatively when doing your medical training, you don't always have to do what everyone else is doing! 🤨 ➡ There is no RIGHT way to do #medicine and #entrepreneurship, do what works for you! ➡ Being a doctor does not just mean practicing clinical medicine, you could be creating population based digital health solutions, doing research, changing policy, developing new medical devices. It is not just one paved path. Sign up to Australian Society for Medical Entrepreneurship & Innovation (ASME) for more information! #medicine #doctor #life #journey #entrepreneurship #startup #innovation #healthtech
