Working in such a fast paced environment sometimes means working on hundred things in parallel. Things you sometimes like, you sometimes don‘t. Last week was a week I personally enjoyed a lot and learnt a lot both. Why? We were invited to join the career fair of Erasmus University Rotterdam & the The New Fashion Society as well as hosting a workshop on „what does it mean being a sustainable organisation?“. And that’s exactly what I appreciate most working in HR: engaging with so many diverse people and curious minds, hearing their perspectives and collaboratively dreaming in problems rather than in immediate solutions. Next to this stopover in Rotterdam, I was able to meet our store & showroom employees based in #Amsterdam first time in person. Such a difference to connect face to face, provide an open and safe space for feedback and hearing their ideas and concerns. Exactly these kind of days let me know: even if you love to jump out of your own bubble, even if you love to work in an interdisciplinary context, even if you have so many interests: you are in the right place as people are the key driver of every successful transformation, no matter which industry, size of company or context you are working for. Yes of course, there are always things you like and don‘t like in your job but in the end for me it‘s appreciating the bigger picture, the smile in people‘s faces and the diverse input you receive everyday. #peoplebusiness #futureHR

At what level is a 3 month notice period fair? I have spoken with several candidates this week that have started new careers in the past 2 years and as they start considering the next step they are being turned down for jobs due to their notice period being 3 months. My candidate has decided to leave their current role with nothing in the pipeline just so future employees consider their application. I understand the longer you’re in a role the more you may need to hand over or alternatively Heads of & Directors, who manage large teams will need a longer period of time to pull away from a business however I don’t think it’s right that Juniors, Trainees, Assistants, Execs etc are signing 3 month notice periods and having to leave their current role so that future employees actually consider them.

I am thrilled to have been able to support bringing Career Week to life for our North America HQ teams serving stores this week. Our amazing planning team of 10 delivered 17 sessions and 6 special events over the course of 3 days centered around learning about career development, teams and functions across the organization, and skills they can apply immediately. Our team couldn’t do it alone- our 6 emcees, 12 hosts and 35 guest speakers were the face of Career Week and brought energy and inspiration to every session. Your support and belief in our Why helped bring this together, and we can’t thank you enough!! To the vendors, tech teams, and pop up teams- you made each special event memorable and engaging! Last, but absolutely not least, a special thank you to our amazing leadership teams for trusting us to deliver this amazing week!
