Nothing makes us happier than hearing stories from show participants. Nils, from Why Not Soda, shared his journey at the 2024 Summer #FancyFoodShow. Here is just a glimpse of what he had to say: "Entering the US market was a dream. But as all entrepreneurs know, there is strategy and there is momentum. We must be prepared to navigate both." "Within four weeks, we built an import setup with competitive pricing for the final consumer. Just six weeks later, I traveled with PortugalFoods to introduce our sodas to US customers at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York. Seeing a vision and plan come to life was incredible." "The feedback on product quality and branding made us nothing but happy and proud. Quality pays off in the end." "These are the moments we work and fight for—when our investment in quality gets recognized. There's nothing more rewarding than to have people leave your booth as brand ambassadors." Check out Why Not Soda and if you're on the East Coast of the U.S., look for them in stores soon! #specialtyfood #founders #entrepreneurship #tradeshow

Raissa de Haas and her twin sister, Joyce, are the Co-Founders of Double Dutch Drinks, bringing personality and flavour to the soft drink mixers category with style and sustainability. Born and raised in the Netherlands, the birthplace of gin, whilst they were partying at uni they found that most mixers lacked the vibrancy of the spirits they were paired with, and so they developed their now signature flavours – Cucumber & Watermelon and Pomegranate & Basil. Their joint Entrepreneurship Masters’ thesis came top of the year and eventually became their business plan, winning seed money to bring their idea to life. And so, Double Dutch Drinks | B Corp was born. Raissa and Joyce also wanted to do business the ‘right’ way, which is why they’re proudly carbon neutral and Certified B-Corp, championing their unwavering commitment to social and environmental responsibility. AND they’ve set up a Scholarship Scheme to support women in their aspiring bartender and mixologist careers. You can listen to our conversation via my website, or wherever you get your podcasts. Overview: It was fantastic talking with Raissa about their business. In our conversation, she: - Explains what the Double Dutch Drinks’ business is all about and how it came to be. - Describes how the partnership with her twin sister works, and the wider structure of the company. - Highlights the competition they face in the mixers marketplace, and how they focus their brand and marketing. - Gives an insight into the early days of the business, how they gained traction, and why winning awards has been so pivotal to the business. - Talks about routes to market, networking, exporting and expansion. - Enthuses about the importance of R&D and the reasoning behind the various flavours they’ve chosen. - Reflects on what they could have done differently. - Goes into detail about getting B-Corp certification. - Expands on funding and the equity split of the business. - Shares some lessons learned from her time in business so far, including thinking longer term when you’re hiring. #LoveBusinesswithAlanWick #business #podcast #entrepreneurship #raissadehaas #doubledutchdrinks

Late in 2021, I connected with Oliver Dixon and Rupert Pugsley from Something & Nothing | B Corp™. Olly and Rupert are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and they produce what I believe to be the absolute best-tasting sodas, uniquely flavored with all-natural ingredients. Their passion for the product, along with their talents in creation, branding, and commercialization, convinced me to invest in their company. Since then, the brand has taken off in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Today, I flew to Athens to finally meet Olly face to face and spend some time together. After countless online meetings, we decided to take a different approach and met at the Acropolis Museum in Athens, afterwards we had an amazing lunch Cookoovaya. My takeaways from taking this meeting out of the boardroom: Never underestimate the value of getting to know the people you work with. To me, ‘all business’ is a thing of the past. Founders are like athletes, and as an investor, I care deeply about their well-being. Firstly, because I am human and I think it’s only human to care. Secondly, I know that if these ‘athletes’ aren’t fit, they won’t be able to compete and thrive. Being an entrepreneur can be brutally tough, and if not for human reasons, investors should care about what’s going on with the people they invest in if they ever plan to be successful together. Something & Nothing is sold all over the UK, Netherlands and the USA. Friends and colleagues from the CPG world: these guys are the real deal and their drinks are your next big hit. For more info, reach out to me and I will connect you! https://lnkd.in/dCiKkBuB #cpg #investing #relationships #sodas

O.N.E Wellness Lifestyle Innovator | Organic Natural Energy Drink Expert | Pionneer Social Entrepreneur in Organic Food Technology
Yesterday, I met an entrepreneur in the beverage manufacturing industry who also started his business in 2019-2020 in Vietnam. Unlike me, who only built the Drinkizz O.N.E brand, his company has created five brands. We discussed the beverage market, our entrepreneurial journeys, and the challenges of life. He couldn't understand how I have survived with just one brand that after six months of establishment, we get the COVID-19 pandemic, the war period, and the economic recession.. I explained that I live by my Motion, which is the O.N.E lifestyle that I love. I'm not just running a beverage business; I'm pursuing a passion for a new lifestyle! Despite all the challenges I've faced, each morning I still have the energy to continue working on Drinkizz. You can read about the Motion Stage that my co-founder Pierre Bonnet wrote: "The Motion element is the most important for moving forward in your projects. Whether you are on an entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial adventure, whether you are a modest employee with ambition, whether you are at home with time to think about your future, whether you are retired… we all need to clarify what gives us the strength to act to progress in life."
