At what price could you generate green hydrogen from #Denmark's ongoing offshore wind auction sites? Last week, Aegir Insights showcased results from Aegir #Integrate, an advanced solution for investment modelling of hybrid offshore wind projects. This solution has been developed in collaboration with Vattenfall, DTU - Technical University of Denmark, and Energy Cluster Denmark under the REALISE Innovation Project. The project was funded via the Danish Energy Agency’s EUDP fund and had a closing event last week after a three-year development. Through the collaboration, Aegir Insights extends its product offerings to include capabilities in investment modelling of #hybrid offshore wind projects, which could include coupling with other generation sources such as #solar and #onshore, as well as #greenhydrogen production or #energystorage. Hybrid offshore wind projects are of growing importance, with several markets now requiring ‘integration’ initiatives in auctions. Aegir Integrate has already been used to analyze several Northern European markets, including #Denmark, #Germany and #Netherlands, that are leading the way on integration initiatives. At the closing event last week, we presented the key results demonstrating Aegir Integrate’s application to a real-world business case, using the Danish #auction as a case study. Reach out to our industry experts, Katherine Dykes and Matthew Delany for a demonstration of our new solution Aegir Integrate and discuss opportunities for future collaborations in hybrid project assessment. ✨ What an honour it has been optimising the revenue for Germany's 288MW Butendiek #offshorewind project through two long-term PPAs in 2023! The historically critical project, one of #germany's first offshore wind assets commissioned in 2015 under the EEG subsidy scheme, opted out 80% of its output from the support mechanism to cater to the increasing needs of PPA offtakers. Given the market landscape, PPAs often offer more attractive revenues than EEG. Butendiek, similar to other assets commissioned in the same period under the national support scheme, would soon enter EEG's low-end price tier. To this end, Pexapark assisted the project's investors in finding the right offtakers and negotiating win-win structures for both the sell and the buy sides. Both agreements will enter into force in July 2024. PPA details: 💡 Nov '23: An unnamed utility will offtake 750GWh annually, 62.5% of the project's total output to feed upcoming #hydrogen production plants 💡 Dec '23: Swiss utility BKW Energie will offtake 200GWh annually, 18% of the project's total output 💡 The remaining 20% of the volumes will still benefit from EEG arrangements We are proud of yet another revenue optimisation success story that enabled further innovation in the European PPA Market, re-directing MWh to where they are needed the most. Many thanks to Butendiek's consortium of investors CITIC Pacific Limited, Industriens Pensionsforsikring, ITOCHU Corporation, Greencoat Renewables PLC, Octopus Energy Generation and wpd GmbH for the trust! Last but not least, congratulations to Pexapark's restless PPA Transactions team Mathieu Ville, David Willemsen, Ademola Adebayo, Karolina Hartzell, Ann Cocquyt for such impactful work! 👏 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/di2FmdCb Image source: OWP Butendiek

Is “#PtX”(P2X, transfers wind power to green hydrogen) the Future of Offshore Wind? Last year, the Danish Energy Agency made headlines by awarding subsidies totaling DKK 1.25 billion (€167 million) for six Power-to-X (PtX) projects, with a combined capacity of 280 MW. This move marked the first time a country has provided support for the production of green hydrogen through PtX technology. In addition, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has unveiled an ambitious plan to build an artificial island called BrintØ (Hydrogen Island) in the North Sea's Dogger Bank area. The island will harness the power of nearby offshore wind farms to produce green hydrogen on a large scale, while also serving as an operations and maintenance hub for the surrounding wind farms. What are your thoughts? What obstacles do you believe PtX might encounter during its implementation? Also, will Taiwan be able to join the Ptx trend?💨⚡️💧🔋 (Photo credit to BrintØ, CIP) #offshore #wind #p2x #ptx #hydrogen #taiwan #renewables #energy

THE FOSS INNOVATION PROJECT ✅ PARTNERS ARE DEVELOPING FLOATING OFFSHORE SUBSTATIONS 🌊 💡 The floating offshore substation (FOSS) is a crucial component in the offshore wind farm industry as deeper ocean sites further from the coastline are to be utilized. Traditional offshore wind farms are installed on the ocean floor, but at depths greater than approximately 80 meters, this method becomes costly and challenging. Between 60-80% of the world’s offshore wind energy potential is in areas with depths greater than 60+ meters, which presents a need for an alternative solution to bring the power to shore, such as a floating offshore substation. “Together with our partners, we are committing ourselves to this innovative solution – getting it to be a reality,” says Jeppe Olander, Innovation Lead Semco Maritime and project partner in FOSS. Semco Maritime has partnered up with ISC Consulting Engineers A/S, Aalborg University, Energy Cluster Denmark and Norway and Sweden-based Inocean. The parties are now set to further accelerate floating offshore substation development through funding from the EUDP - Det Energiteknologiske Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram. Read more about the project at 👉 https://lnkd.in/dp-HgSd9 Watch the partners explain about their innovative solution in this video 🎬👇
