Happy Juneteenth! Juneteenth is the oldest official celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. This day reminds us that while we have made progress, the work is not done. CDA has been and will continue to be on a reflective and intentional journey to becoming a more anti-racist, inclusive, and decolonial organization. How we work matters for human dignity and our relationships. CDA is committed to practicing what we value most – listening, learning, and taking action to more explicitly incorporate anti-racist values and practices into our work. NOT SHAMEFUL TO REMEMBER Memories of war enable our society to remember the past, to express appreciation to those who sacrificed their lives and willingly served our country. At the same time we also need to acknowledge and accept that on occasions, events and happenings from the past, which would be considered unnecessary today, occurred for significant and highly acceptable reasons. Those of us today should never feel guilt nor shame for these actions, which some are constantly demanding that we do. This is why we, as Australians, come together every ANZAC Day. We do it to commemorate the ANZAC’s and their achievements: we should remember them though, not as old soldiers from a forgotten war, but as the young Australians each of them were in 1915, when they left our shores to defend Australia. Remembering moments from our history allows us as a society to learn from them and to move forward in a positive and determined manner. We cannot change history and nor should we, but we can and should learn from it. Australians young and old, will always remember them.

As a former Army medic, reflecting on September 11, 2001, brings back vivid memories of how deeply it shaped not only the military but also the nation as a whole. The attacks marked a turning point, sparking the War on Terror, leading to deployments that forever altered the trajectory of so many lives—military personnel, first responders, and civilians alike. For medics, the aftermath saw a heightened emphasis on combat readiness and trauma care, as we found ourselves deploying to areas where our skills were critical in saving lives under fire. The immediate response to 9/11 was a surge of patriotism and a sense of duty. Many, including myself, were motivated by the need to serve and protect. The warzones we entered in Iraq and Afghanistan had a distinct intensity, with the constant need to provide medical care in challenging and dangerous environments. It also redefined the scope of care, blending battlefield medicine with innovations in trauma care that have since improved survival rates for soldiers and civilians alike. The impact of 9/11 endures, not just in military strategy or geopolitics, but in the personal stories of those who served. For many of us, it was the catalyst for a career that tested our resilience, taught us the value of life, and left a lasting imprint on our view of sacrifice and service. #NeverForget #September11 #ArmyMedicReflections #ServiceAndSacrifice #CombatMedic #Patriotism #WarOnTerror
As we observe the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, we at the Gary Sinise Foundation remember the lives lost and the heroic actions of first responders and brave civilians. We will continue to honor the memory of those who served and sacrificed, ensuring their legacy lives on. Together, we vow to never forget the courage of those who defended our nation and the impact they left behind.

This is certainly an interesting concept. We can probably all agree that “spin” employed by politicians and their public affairs people has gotten out of hand. But as a legal matter defining the line between spin and lying may be very difficult to establish and even harder to prove beyond a reasonable doubt as the criminal law requires.
We. Need. This. “One nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.“

September 11, 2024 The border crisis has been moved, by the Biden/Harris Administration, across America to your state where your state tax dollars will have to deal with all the medical, hospital, educational, housing, crime and other costs for the millions of illegals. An army of terrorist “gotaways” are now in America. An estimated 100,000 gotaways a month, 1,200,000 a year. Are they criminals, sex predators, mentally ill, human traffickers, gang members, drug cartel members, terrorists or sleeper cells? An army of terrorists now in America will make the 911 World Trade Center look like a warm-up and no one is paying attention! Only 19 terrorists to take out the World Trade Center and we have over one million, per year, “gotaways” that crossed the border. Just think what 190,000 terrorists will be able to do. The border and America are not secure. Our cities are not safe. America is not safe.
Today, we remember the immense sacrifices made on September 11th, a day that forever changed our nation. We honor the bravery of the first responders, the strength of the survivors, and the memory of those who perished. On this Patriot Day, let us stand together in unity, as we always have, to remember and to proclaim: Never Forget.

We are pleased to host this annual event and excited to be adding a reading of the Freedom Petition co-authored by Prince Whipple. The inclusion of Prince Whipple and the Freedom Petition is very much in keeping with the theme of independence; and invites us to recognize that our journey as a nation is long, and full of triumphs and short-comings, enlightenment and contradiction. Democracy is an ideal that requires ongoing care, practice, and tending; and the two stories shared together is an energizing reminder of that. https://lnkd.in/eUig2UGc

🇺🇸⚔️ Remembering the American Civil War: Honoring Sacrifice and Struggle ⚔️🇺🇸 The American Civil War, a defining chapter in the history of the United States, was a period of profound conflict and transformation. Lasting from 1861 to 1865, this bloody and divisive conflict pitted the Northern states, known as the Union, against the Southern states, known as the Confederacy, over issues of slavery, states' rights, and the future of the nation. Despite the immense human cost and the deep scars left by the war, it ultimately paved the way for profound social and political change. The abolition of slavery, the preservation of the Union, and the expansion of civil rights for all Americans are among its enduring legacies. As we reflect on the American Civil War, let us honor the courage and resilience of those who fought and died on both sides. Let us also reaffirm our commitment to building a more just, inclusive, and united nation, where the lessons of the past guide us toward a brighter future. #AmericanCivilWar #RememberingThePast #BuildingABetterFuture 🇺🇸⚔️ https://bit.ly/3T1ZuCk
