I have never stayed at Moxy Hotels....Back in 2012, Marriott International wanted to shake up the select market by introducing a stylish, functional, snazzy product for Millennials. They partnered up with IKEA, their real estate division to have not their furniture but that stacked feel of their stores and debuted the first Moxy hotel in 2014 which was the Moxy Milan Malpensa Airport. Even though its targeted for my Demographic, I hate this brand for a number of reasons. Yes, I am a Millennial, but I am extremely Old School. I love classic luxury of a The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., not the loud, colorful vibe of W Hotels. If I wanted to stay at a Select brand, my first choice would be Courtyard by Marriott. Moxy is basically an Aloft Hotels with more functionality and less room space. And then the whole retro vibe with those antique telephones, pegs on the wall and this is the cardinal sin in my eyes, NO TABLE AND CHAIR. How can a hotel, however cool it aspires to be, not have a hotel and Chair? Every Millennial has to work I assure you, and they need a table and chair to place their laptop, sit down and work. It defeats the purpose. I suppose this hotel should be retargeted towards Gen Z ( 19-25 age group) and when they age out, the next generation. Families for sure and Boomers would never stay at Moxy for practical purposes. Which is why this ad of Moxy Sydney Airport caught my eye. First off, excellently shot and well articulated, without uttering a single word. One of the better marketing ads of Marriott Hotels/ Marriott Bonvoy. If you look closely, the guy in this ad when he enters the room, sits down in chair and a NICE, LONG TABLE. I was like, this can't be possible. How can a Moxy break its design palette? As it turns out, this hotel maybe is an exception, but the Moxy King sleeper room does have a Table and Chair which is a miracle. I would definitely try out this property for sure. Moxy has over 150 hotels worldwide, amazing that they built so much in a decade and almost 60% of those hotels are in Europe which is its perfect target market. The Moxy Times Square is an anomaly with 5 food and beverage outlets and a massive 612 room inventory. I would personally love to try Moxy Tromso which has spectacular views. Norway has just 3 Marriott hotels in totality and all of them are moxy's, the other two being Moxy Bergen and Moxy Oslo. I really feel in the process of being hip and cool, they shouldn't sacrifice the essentials, in this instance, a sturdy table and comfortable chair, in which case I would be more than happy to try out this brand. I appreciate the price point as well, in Europe its about 79 pounds which is a steal and in NYC, they go anywhere from $150 to $279 which is a great deal for that market. I will definitely try this Moxy next time I am in Sydney and Kudos to the marketing team for putting out a high production quality video that showcases the brand's ethos perfectly without even a word being said.
Moxy Sydney Airport is currently on the search for the next Business Development Manager superstar! If you want to see what all the fuss is about, and work for the world's largest Hotel Company - Marriott International at a fun, bold and design led hotel, then apply now using the link below! https://lnkd.in/gxJH45er Our cool places need personalities, not staff! #PlayOn

Yesterday, I had an interesting conversation with a consultant who works with a group of hotels. She was overseeing their phone system upgrade but admitted she wasn’t familiar with the intricacies of the hotel world. As she started asking about acronyms like GDS, OTA, and ADR, it was a great opportunity for me to put on my Hotelier hat and give her a mini session on why having the right technology—especially a good PMS—is essential for any hotel business. It struck me that if they were upgrading their phones, they were clearly looking for the best in technology. And that’s when it clicked—pivoting into hotel tech sales felt natural for me because my hotel career was built around identifying and delivering the best solutions for guests and operations alike. Throughout my career, sales has always been at the heart of what I do. As the initial sales manager for every hotel I opened, I developed and executed sales and marketing plans that directly drove success. That foundation gave me a deep understanding of client needs, which is invaluable in my current role in hotel technology sales. I’ve had many friends from hotel operations reach out, curious about making a similar move. If you’re considering a career change, I highly recommend hotel tech sales—it’s an exciting field where hospitality skills are incredibly valuable. I may be biased, but Mews is hands down the best property management system out there! If you’re ready to explore a new chapter, check out the roles we’re hiring for. You might be surprised how seamlessly your hospitality experience translates to this field. Let’s connect and chat about it! https://lnkd.in/ejw9-mWh

*MY JOURNEY* : TRANSITIONING FROM HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY TO REAL ESTATE" For most of my career, I thrived in the bustling world of hospitality, where I honed invaluable skills in customer service, communication, and teamwork. Working in this dynamic environment taught me how to effectively manage diverse client needs, resolve conflicts, and create memorable experiences. However, as I reflected on my career path, I felt a growing desire to explore new challenges and opportunities, leading me to the real estate industry. The transition was both exciting and daunting. I recognized that many of the skills I developed in hospitality were directly transferable to real estate. My strong focus on customer satisfaction positioned me to excel in understanding clients’ needs in the home-buying or selling process. I also realized the importance of building lasting relationships, as trust and rapport are key in both industries. Networking proved to be another crucial element of my transition. I reached out to industry professionals, attended local real estate events, and joined relevant associations. These connections not only provided me with mentorship and guidance but also opened doors to potential opportunities. Throughout this journey, my adaptability and resilience were tested. There were challenges, from understanding complex property transactions to navigating the nuances of the real estate market. However, my background in hospitality equipped me with the problem-solving skills and a client-centered mindset necessary to tackle these challenges head-on. As I reflect on my experience, I am grateful for the foundation that my hospitality career provided. It has not only shaped my approach to real estate but has also fueled my passion for helping clients find their dream homes. #sheila_realtordxb #hospitalityindustry #realestate
