Our new report says that the United States has made little progress in advancing health care equity over the past two decades, and racial and ethnic inequities remain a fundamental flaw for the nation’s health care system. The report documents the numerous and pervasive inequities in U.S. health care while also providing recommendations to help remedy these inequities. “Eliminating health care inequities is an achievable and feasible goal, and improving the health of individuals in the nation’s most disadvantaged communities improves the quality of care for everyone,” says report committee co-chair Georges C. Benjamin. To learn more about the report, visit https://ow.ly/O1uH50Sqa54. #HealthEquity #HealthDisparities #SDOH #HealthCare

🧠 "Because disparities persist, the National Academies convened an expert committee with support from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the National Institutes of Health. The committee’s report reviews the major drivers of health care disparities, provides insight into successful and unsuccessful interventions, identifies gaps in the evidence base, and makes recommendations to advance health equity." 💻 Download a free PDF of the report here: https://lnkd.in/g4cEXR83

Health inequities are pervasive nationally, with the health and well-being of Americans too often diverging along racial and ethnic lines. There are many factors that contribute to health disparities, but how we finance health care services and the structural payment inequities embedded in our health care system have gone under-explored. In a new report supported by Arnold Ventures, Manatt Health’s Adam Striar, Nathan Pauly, Kevin McAvey, Anne Karl and Cindy Mann seek to address this gap by investigating how health care provider payment variation contributes to disparities. Specifically, they explore questions like: do providers who predominantly treat “historically marginalized populations” get paid less for the same services than those that treat predominantly White populations? And if so, is this driven only by payer mix or do payment differences within payer types play a role? Learn more and read the full report here:

Understanding the need to tackle healthcare inequality, World Health Organization in 2023 designed the Health Inequality Data Repository (HIDR) responsible for tracking universal healthcare services and knowing who is left behind. Yet, there are huge disparities within and between countries, for example life expectancy in high income countries are 80 years, while for low income countries are 59 years ( United Nations, 2021). With the current global healthcare crisis especially in war-zones, it is essential that we heighten efforts towards the equal rights to healthcare for all especially the marginalized. Because, OUR HEALTH IS OUR RIGHT 📍 #TSDI #Healthcare #HealthForAll

Today is #WorldHealthDay! Much progress has been made on #SDG3, related to good #health and well-being. However, inequalities in #healthcare access still persist. At least 4.5 billion people were not fully covered by essential health services in 2021. That’s more than half of the world’s population. Find out how the #OPECFund supports #SDG3: bit.ly/3bNpJ8j

More than 30% of direct medical costs faced by U.S. minorities can be tied to health inequities. Because of inequitable access to care and other health-promoting resources, these populations are often sicker when they do find a source of care and incur higher medical costs. That is more than $230 billion over a four-year period. Learn more about injustice in healthcare and how you can help put an end to it here👇 https://lnkd.in/emWjtFRW #socialjustice #worlddayofsocialjustice #healthcare #inequity
