“Be part of the Plan”, the theme of IDB 2024, is a call to action for all stakeholders to halt and reverse the loss of biodiversity by supporting the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, also referred to as the The Biodiversity Plan. The Biodiversity Plan offers opportunities for cooperation and partnerships among diverse actors. Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, non-governmental organizations, lawmakers, businesses, and individuals are encouraged to highlight the ways in which they are supporting the implementation of the Biodiversity Plan. Everyone has a role to play and therefore can Be Part of the Plan. #Biodiversity #IDB2024 #ESG #Jswcement

Indigenous peoples are custodians of biodiversity + protect forest ecosystems. It’s essential that territory rights be protected as we face #biodiversity + climate crises. Its encouraging to see deeper conversations about the necessity of including #TraditionalKnowledge into Global Biodoversity Frameworks.
#TraditionalKnowledge Indicators should be integrated into the monitoring framework for the #BiodiversityPlan to succeed. In March, experts from all over the world came together in Cambridge to see how this could be done. Find out more https://lnkd.in/e5QnDtFn #TransformativePathways UN Biodiversity IUCN ICCA Consortium

Eclectic advocate, heretic campaigner and creative iconoclast: A professional troublemaker that whispers others to do good (and get in trouble, too).
In 2022, the countries that are Party to the UN Biodiversity convention adopted the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework to tackle biodiversity loss. Under this framework, nations agree to a list of specific targets, one of which is to provide at least $20 billion a year to developing countries by 2025, increasing to at least $30 billion a year by 2030. Despite developed countries committing to these targets, a new research from ODI, a leading global affairs think tank, finds only two countries were paying their fair share of the biodiversity finance and the overwhelming majority of developed countries were not providing even half of their fair share. Kudos to Laetitia Pettinotti, Yue Cao, Tony Mwenda Kamninga and Sarah Colenbrander for this work commissioned by Campaign for Nature.
