Held In Our Hearts baby loss counselling and support services are a lifeline for grieving families; providing a Hospital Home service, counselling, peer support, community support and resources to help families cope with their loss. However, these services rely heavily on charitable donations and diminishing grant funding, despite the growing need for them. By raising awareness and funds during Baby Loss Awareness Week, we can help ensure that these services remain free and are available to all who need them, for as long as they need them. Excited to have the opportunity to volunteer with RMHC. Research indicates supporting the entire family during a child’s critical illness can improve resilience, reduce stress and enhance wellbeing for several crucial reasons: ✅  Emotional Well-Being: A child’s illness affects the entire family - parents, siblings, and extended family members experience stress, anxiety, and fear. ✅  Practical Assistance: Supporting the whole family enables the sharing of responsibilities to alleviate the daily burden of families managing critical illnesses. ✅ Financial Strain: Community resources, counselling, and financial aid can ease the burden of medical expenses. ✅ Sibling Support: Emotional support for siblings of critically ill children can ease related disruption and anxiety. ✅ Parental Health: Support for parents to assist in the maintenance of their own physical and mental health can assist in the provision of better care. ✅ Family Dynamics: Critical illnesses strain family relationships. Open communication, counselling, and support groups can help maintain healthy dynamics and ease the strain on family relationships. ✅ Child’s Recovery: Improved positive health outcomes have been linked to the provision of a supportive family environment. 

**Urgent Call for Help: Buddy's Road to Recovery Needs You** We have an important update on Buddy’s condition. Our vet visited the shelter and determined that Buddy’s wound was too severe to leave open, so suturing was necessary. Though it was a challenging process, we had to gently restrain Buddy to ensure he remained safe during the procedure. Buddy’s resilience continues to inspire us, but his journey to recovery is far from over. The suturing was a critical step, but he still requires ongoing care and support to heal fully. This is where we need your help more than ever. Your generosity has been a lifeline for Buddy, and we are profoundly grateful. However, the costs of his medical treatment and continued care are significant. Please consider donating, sharing Buddy’s story, and encouraging others to contribute. 👚 Only 20% of clothes donated to thrift stores are actually resold. Please consider donating your gently used clothing to nursing homes rather than dropping them off at Goodwill. Some residents don’t have family members who provide clothing, or they aren't physically able to purchase their own clothing. Sometimes they don't have many shirts, jackets, pants, underwear, socks and shoes. As a nursing assistant, I am asking you to consider donating new and gently used items to our older adults who really need it. 💚 Call your local nursing home(s) to see what they need, and what they're able to accept. We should be doing everything possible to preserve the dignity of older adults who are unable to care for themselves independently. The Oval Partnership are once again taking part in the Samworth Charity Challenge on 18th May 2024 to raise funds for Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice. It's an exhilarating & gruelling adventure race for teams of four, where you are required to plan and navigate your way around the course in order to collect points. The event is held every 2 years and will see our team pushed to the limits on a triathalon course which includes Mountain, Canoe & Cycle stages with all being approximately 3 hours duration and will be held near Ambleside in the Lake District. That sounds easy right? Wrong! this isn't a walk in the park. There are 2 difficulties to choose from, Tough and Elite and we know from past experience they are not for the faint hearted. But the charity that we support makes this challenge worthwhile. Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice help children with end of life care and provide bereavement support to their families through what is such a challenging period to make what time they have left special. To most of us, a bed is something that we cozy into each night... for the families that we are serving, this is something that they cannot even imagine, that they would be able to get off the floor and into a bed. Beds are one of the most critical items we provide, bringing comfort, security, and dignity to families emerging from crisis. Right now, we have a backlog of families who desperately need beds—a place for their children to sleep safely and comfortably. If you were to visit our warehouse today, you’d see rows of beds, but here’s the reality: every single one of them is already spoken for. We're grateful for the generous donations we receive, but the need far outweighs what we currently have.
