Today, I went for coffee with a friend who has been on quite a journey for last 4 months. They've had four interviews for senior positions, reaching the final round each time. Despite meeting all the job requirements, they often heard, "We found another candidate." What stung the most was when those positions went to internal hires. My friend is proactive and always asks for feedback to improve, but genuine insights are hard to come by. Out of these four interviews, only one hiring manager showed real interest and kept their résumé for future opportunities. This got me thinking—candidates just need a fair chance to prove themselves. You can't fully judge someone's potential in a 30-minute interview. True performance is measured by numbers and results over time. If we're doubting candidates who already have experience, how will we give chances to freshers? They don’t have experience but need a stair to climb. How can we judge someone’s progress without seeing their journey? So here’s my suggestion to recruiters and hiring managers: when sending a rejection email, include the reason for the decision. This small step can provide invaluable industry insights and significantly help candidates prepare better for future opportunities. #CareerAdvice #JobSearch #Recruitment #Hiring #InterviewTips #Leadership #HR #JobOpportunities #ProfessionalDevelopment #Networking #JobHunt #CareerGrowth #TalentAcquisition #Workplace #JobSeeker #CareerCoach #Employment #JobInterviews #CareerChange #ResumeTips #JobMarket #CareerSuccess #HiringTips #CareerGoals #JobOpening #Motivation #Interviewing #WorkCulture #JobOpportunities #JobTips #JobSeekers #Success #JobSearchTips #LeadershipDevelopment #InterviewPreparation #HRTips #JobSearchAdvice #CareerTips #JobApplications #Inspiration #WorkplaceCulture #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerPath #EmployeeExperience #CareerDevelopment #JobStrategy #WorkplaceSuccess #CareerProgression #WorkplaceAdvice

"I feel underqualified for this position" Is something I'm used to grads saying every day. At the end of the day, if you are applying for an entry-level/ grad position, the company isn't going to expect you to come in fully qualified. They're instead looking for a grad who's coachable, keen to get stuck in and eager to learn. You might not have all the knowledge or experience for a role, but it’s about showcasing what you do have… ➡ Highlight examples from your part-time jobs, sport, research at university. ➡ Find articles and do extra industry research to highlight you've already dedicated time and effort to the interview process. The hard skills can always be learnt on the job, but it's demonstrating your soft skills that will get you through interviews. _ 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙐𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙙! ✨ Follow Timberseed for the latest job opportunities and career insights. 📧 Apply now: poppy@timberseed.com 𝙇𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙚? 🚀 Reach out for expert advice: hiring@timberseed.com #grads #gradjobs #recruitment #interviews

Entry-level job-seekers stand out when they know: ✅ The job they want. ✅ Why they want it. ✅ What success looks like in that job. These are boxes interviewers want (and need) to check to have confidence in you as a candidate. Demonstrate your: ✅ Motivation for the precise job you're applying to. ✅ Knowledge of the industry and what the job involves ✅ Potential to contribute to a company. #SaaSJobs #Jobs #Career #CareerDevelopment #Innovation #InterviewTips #TechCareers

I completely agree with this perspective from Andrew Lokenauth. In my experience, some of the best team members I’ve worked with started with little to no experience but had the right attitude and potential to learn. Entry-level jobs should be about providing opportunities to gain experience and develop skills, not about filtering out those who haven’t had the chance yet. It’s important to recognize that most skills can be taught, and a candidate’s fit with the team and their eagerness to learn are often far more important. Let’s give more people a chance to prove themselves and grow. If someone feels like a good fit, hire them and invest in their potential.

Most jobs can be taught. Give people a chance. I hired an employee 15 minutes into their interview. They ended up being a great fit. Some of the best employees I’ve hired started with ZERO experience. The purpose of entry-level jobs are to gain experience and learn. Entry-level jobs should not demand any experience. Dear recruiters and hiring managers, Here's my advice: If someone is a good fit, just hire them. It’s time to give people a chance. Sincerely, Everyone Agree?

I love this sentiment. Soft skills are invaluable, and if someone appears to be coachable, they can learn the job and grow with your guidance. Hiring is always a risk. A perfect candidate for your role can fully intend to stay with your organization, but their situation can change overnight. There’s also the risk of overconfidence, which might lead them to do the job the wrong way rather than asking for guidance. Take the risk and give someone an opportunity that might change their life. It is incredibly rewarding to watch them succeed.
