Does a Ph.D. only mean a life in academia? If that's your fear, I'll give you three examples of how it serves as a gateway to a plethora of diverse careers.🌞🥸 1.𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺-𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴. A PhD student spends years tackling complex issues and developing robust critical thinking capabilities. --> These skills are highly valued in Strategy and Operations roles. 2.𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀. A key component of a PhD research is mastering the art of analysing large volumes of data. --> This skill is essential in roles such as Project Management or Data Analysis. 3.𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. PhD students master the art of addressing unexpected outcomes and unclear results. -->This characteristic is highly prized in the dynamic and fast-paced environments of #startup or sales. Next time you're contemplating your career path post-PhD, remember that there's a world of opportunities beyond the walls of academia. #career #personaldevelopment #research #job

Science marketing & communication 🧬 scaling up your content production 🧬 2-time founder (1 exit, 1 active)
Thinking of leaving academia for a career in biotech? Here are 3 people who have, and what they have to say about their own transition: ✅ Ute Boronowsky, PhD, Science and Marketing Writer at Science Inbound 💬 When you take the plunge from lab to marketing, many people will tell you you are moving to the “dark side". While that might be true at first glance, consider that marketing cannot be successful if you don't feel the needs of your audience - and the best way to do this is to know from your own experience what their daily routine is like. You can only do this if you know what really has the potential to make a difference in the lab. Your audience will notice right away that you know precisely what you are talking about. 💬 ✅ Dennis Fink, Senior Communications Manager at Xlife Sciences AG 💬 The biggest disadvantage I would say is that you need to start from zero again. That doesn’t sound too bad if you’re eager to learn new things. But it also means that people around you, your colleagues, your customers, etc., don’t care what you have achieved as a scientist. This can be painful, e.g. if you have an ego and think that because of your PhD, you somehow deserve to be respected. You start again from zero and you need to be humble, take criticism related to your work, learn from it and master new skills. 💬 ✅ Adrian Hery Barranco, Marketing and Business Development Officer at Biosynth 💬 I have to say that there is no rule of what to do or not to do. In this day and age, the world is so dynamic, diverse, and changing so fast that what worked for some a few years back, does not necessarily mean it will for you. Nevertheless, there are some tools that you can work on, such as LinkedIn. Think of yourself as a product that you need to sell. You need to tune your profile, in order to apply for the job you want to do. In other words, you need to make it attractive. 💬 If you'd like to know more about this, I've compiled my conversation with the three of them into this article: https://lnkd.in/ee2uuKex I hope you find it useful! ____ #biotech #career #academia

If any job in the world paid the same amount of money, what job you would like to take? If any job in the world paid the same, I would love to become a research assistant to a professor. There’s nothing more fulfilling than assisting and supporting someone in accomplishing a study or a significant project, especially one that contributes to the future and society. It is fascinating to learn from the professor’s wisdom and their journey of becoming a researcher. Who knows, perhaps one day I can become a professor myself, guiding others to contribute their efforts and knowledge to groundbreaking research. As I’m currently working on my thesis, I encounter many challenges along the way. However, what keeps me motivated is knowing that my completed work will contribute valuable knowledge to businesses striving to brand themselves efficiently as sustainable brands. Being a research assistant would allow me to immerse myself in impactful projects, support groundbreaking research, and continuously learn and grow in the process. It’s a role that not only advances my career but also contributes meaningfully to the world.

Today thought Day-8 When I was younger, I used to wait patiently for the things that fascinated me. I thought that these things would become affordable at a certain age, but as I got older, I realized that life still forced me to wait and set me back a lot while I worked to improve my flaws and faced many obstacles. First off, I believe that a bachelor's degree suffices to land a decent career. I believe we should put this medical and engineering degree on hold and try our hand at some digital marketing, but even after four years of hard work, I still wasn't able to secure a decent job. It has nothing to do with a career; rather, it's about a desire, which in my case I believe I might realize with a little revenue, but again. New graduates with such degrees are in high demand in the market. believe that chances rather than degrees are what important, and that everyone in the market should consider how to best utilize other people I see, another recent graduate. #creativeminds #freshgraduates #mediascience #education #akhirkbtakghabraoga
