When young Jake Spurdle wheeled himself into the old studio down at the Marina and asked for help, Bron did not hesitate for one second. Jake was just fourteen at the time, and dealing with a very serious cancer diagnosis, and had dropped by with his mum Nyky, asking for help to raise funds for his family and to increase the awareness of his rare form of cancer. What started with ideas being thrown about for lamington drives or some sort of event, quickly grew to what became known as 'Play 4 Jake'. This event is one for the history books, one that our team will never forget. Play 4 Jake ended up with a fantastic golf day, a charity dinner and a wheelchair rugby game like no other, with over $60,000 raised for Jake and his chosen charity 'Engenic'. The South Sydney Rabbitohs sent their 'old boys', well known football stars who had played for the team, and Australia. We have shared their official video of the event here, and we hope you enjoy it, please watch it to the end. Bron says the gift of bringing so many of Jake's dreams to reality, is something she treasures to this day. In fact, it is the back story to the 'Make Everyday Count' merch we have produced...because tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone. Event management is one thing, bringing a kids dream to life, giving him the best weekend ever, knowing that life was being cut short, is another. We miss you and love you Jake...forever fifteen. #thesocialcoachforbusiness #socialmediamarketingagency #socialmediacoach

🌟 Exciting News & A Call for Support! 🌟 After a refreshing family holiday where I focused on connecting my kids with their relatives, I’m back on LinkedIn with a purpose-driven challenge. At The Transformation Group, we’re fortunate to align our professional values with meaningful causes. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be supporting our primary charity partner, Tour de Cure Australia, by taking on a personal challenge: running 50km to raise funds for cancer research with Suncorp Group the sponsor of the event. Having recently completed a 450km cycling challenge, this run feels like a different kind of uphill battle without the luxury of training. The cause hits close to home as my wife’s family has recently faced a heartbreaking loss due to cancer. This run is dedicated to all the families affected by this disease, and I’m committed to giving it my best shot despite my fears of injury (currently dealing with two strained calf muscles so can't run more than 8k). Here’s where I’d deeply appreciate your support: Donations: Every contribution helps us get closer to a cure. Training Tips: With only 2 weeks to prepare, any advice on running, nutrition, or injury prevention would be incredibly valuable. Moral Support: Just knowing you’re cheering me on would mean the world! Feel free to contribute or share your insights via the link below. Let’s come together to make a difference! https://lnkd.in/gRajRPQ2 - team of 1 Thank you for your support and encouragement! #CharityChallenge #CancerResearch #RunningForACause #SupportAndDonate #MakeADifference

I should also disclose the secrets of our success, indicate the bar for participation (skill, experience etc), and why more teams should sign up next year. 1. Success factors - Two of our team had never cycled in a velodrome before. Key requirement is enthusiasm, and in my case not having broken any bones by falling off my bike before the event (yes I am and was the weakest link - eg I had my saddle at the wrong height until a pro pulled me over and politely pointed this out). 2. Why sign up? It’s an incredible day out (talks by cycling pros, a massage etc) and an excellent evening meal (assisted by having dinner with part of the very able #Hausfeld team with who we have worked on a occupancy safety systems for several years - it will be well worth reading the Tribunal’s judgment in a few months, not least as this case is not a folllow-on damages claim). You also get to add a new Lycra top (also a good look for middle aged men.. contrary to the views of naysayers). 3. Really why sign up? It’s a very worthy cause. I have been fabulously lucky in life in an array of ways, including that my three kids have not needed GOSH’s services. This is precisely the sort of event that the fabulously lucky should support. And well done to all the many teams for doing so (including #Freshfields, #Willkie etc etc).
It’s not all work and no play. Yesterday I attended and participated in a charity track cycling event at the London Velodrome. The cause was Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), one of the world’s leading children's Cancer hospitals, last night we heard some incredible stories of children impacted by cancer; their resilience, determination and fortitude. It really does put life into perspective! I’m pleased to say that with the help of my colleagues Mat Hughes, Paul Taylor and Oliver Rake we actually managed to win the (plate) trophy. So whilst we weren’t the quickest overall, we were the quickest of the slowest! We were also joined by our friends and colleagues from #Hausfeld for a dinner and charity auction. The event raised over £300k and took the charity over the £2m mark for the event over the last few years. They are currently raising money to build a market leading facility here in the U.K. Final thanks to #WillkieFarr and Peter Burrell, and #Freshfields who are also involved in the event. I’m already looking forward to improving our time next year !

Are you planning to donate to breast cancer research this month? Donating to cancer research is a powerful way to support the fight against breast cancer, but it’s important to ensure your donations are going to legitimate organizations. By law, charities must disclose how they use funds, and as a donor, you have the right to know how your contributions will be spent. Always research organizations to ensure they are reputable and that your donation will make the intended impact. At The Siler Firm, we encourage you to donate wisely and support reputable breast cancer organizations. Knowing your rights as a donor is key to making a difference. 🫶 Are you in the midst of planning your charitable giving for 2025? Your organization can make a difference for kids with cancer and their families. There are many ways to help outside of donating. For example: making Pinky Swear the charitable partner at your next big event. Dedicating a percentage of sales for a day to provide financial relief for families facing childhood cancer? Or by recognizing Pinky Swear through your products or services? Our three values are compassion, celebration, and collaboration. Would you collaborate with us to make something amazing for your company and for kids with cancer and their families? Explore examples of our partnerships to get some ideas in this document. Together, we can make a difference. 🧡 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dJSPYaqD #PinkySwearFoundation #HelpingKidswithCancer #ChildhoodCancerCharity #NonProfit #NonProfitPartners #CorporatePartnerships #GivingBack #MakingADifference #ChildhoodCancerAwareness

Mid North Coast Regional Partnerships Officer at Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service
4moWell said Bron and team at The Social Coach, and from myself and our team at Westpac Rescue Helicopter it was an honour to give Jake a special ferry flight around Port Macquarie in our chopper (even though he took some convincing to get onboard). Still in our hearts and minds everyday especially every time I drive past his train window display in Wauchope, in fact my son only pressed the button to activate it yesterday.
