Guess who has two thumbs and increased St. Louis Community College's published social media posts by 54.4%? THIS GIRL! 🤯 My goal was to increase posts by 10% and wow did I surpass it. Here's some of the breakdown: 6/1/2022-5/31/2023 Instagram posts: 145 Instagram stories: 453 TikToks: 5 6/1/2023-5/31/2024 Instagram posts: 193 Instagram stories: 682 TikToks: 71 How did I do it? When I started at STLCC, I'll admit that I was nervous about posting, especially on TikTok, even though I knew that's where our target audience was. My confidence was built off the support of my coworkers and leadership. They believed in me, so why shouldn't I? This support fueled me to create a TikTok strategy built on consistency, authenticity, and data. I also realized the power of community management: by sharing content from other STLCC accounts, we increased our amount of IG stories. It was a win-win! There's a difference between observing your community and participating in your community. Don't know what questions your target audience might have? It's probably because you don't participate or engage with that community enough to know what things they're curious about. Sure, you can go to Reddit or Quora to find questions by keyword searching OR You can ✅ Read comments under the posts of popular creators in your niche ✅ Follow people at all levels in your industry who inevitably will experience challenges in their journey ✅ Just ask your audience what they'd like to know more about (my personal favorite) Finding things to talk about isn't hard. Packaging valuable experiences and insights from your story in a way that will resonate with your audience is.
