To our Trevor community: we are beyond thrilled to introduce you to The Trevor Project’s new CEO, Jaymes Black (they/she/he) 🧡 Jaymes is deeply committed to Trevor’s mission to end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people, and brings a diverse leadership background across both nonprofit and corporate sectors that aligns seamlessly with our values of Heart, Integrity, Community, Belonging, and Progress. In addition to their extensive professional accomplishments, Jaymes is making history as Trevor’s first Black, nonbinary, lesbian CEO. Growing up as a queer young person in South Texas, Jaymes’ unique lived experiences provide her with a nuanced understanding of the challenges that LGBTQ+ young people face today. Prior to joining The Trevor Project, Jaymes was the President & CEO of Family Equality, the leading national organization working to ensure that everyone has the freedom to find, form, and sustain their families by advancing LGBTQ+ equality through advocacy, support, storytelling, and education. We are overjoyed to have Jaymes at the helm as we enter this new chapter for The Trevor Project and continue to create a safer, more welcoming world for LGBTQ+ young people to thrive 🧡

Congrats Jaymes Black - listen to your staff, they are the most incredible and lovely group of human beings who are putting their wellbeing on the line day after day. Through them, you will succeed and bring Trevor Project into a renaissance.

This is a critical appointment since non-binary and Trans People of Color are most under violent assaults & murders in this country. The entire LGBTQIA+ community must rally around our most vulnerable members. Happy to see Jaymes Black at the helm of the Trevor Project at this time of our history with the blowback from the reactionary right wing politicians in this country.

I am hopeful that having a new CEO who has lived life as part of the community will be a positive step forward! You have a real chance to right a sinking ship. Front line staff have been overlooked and undervalued for so long and I hope that you are able to fix that! When I started at Trevor, I had so many hopes for its future and had so much respect for the organization. When I left, it was all gone. I hope you're able to bring hope and trust back to the employees and to the people who use the services. Watching the organization flounder has been so hard- and I am so hopeful that you are able to make real change and listen to the people actually doing the work.

Congrats from our team at Axis- we appreciate you!

I do believe that all those in the United States and in free democratic countries deserve to be free from bullying, regardless of worldview, faith, religion or from pursuing life , liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and to harm none.

Jaymes Black is amazing! I have followed their work at Family Equality and can't wait to see what they do for The Trevor Project. Their leadership is so needed, especially for non-binary and trans youth!
