I’m not being a hater. Let’s have a serious discussion: Why does any Institution of Higher Education feel that having alums who are delegates to a Political Convention is newsworthy? THERE IS NO PURPOSE! That university is trying to engage in DEMOCRAT PARTY GOTV efforts. Their federal funding should be CUT! There are probably 50 Carolina alums who are delegates. A&T has several delegates and you don’t see their University promoting such a common occurrence. I encourage the Administration at NCCU to stay out of politics and focus on fundraising (which last I read, was quite pathetic). Get some of your alums to stop buying BMWs and give you $100 and perhaps we wouldn’t have to utilize so much of our tax dollars on landscaping over in Durham. Black Institutions must stop playing SMALL BALL. This type of BUSHLEAGUE activity is why Blacks as myself, who took Honors and AP courses and excelled DO NOT EVEN APPLY TO THESE SCHOOLS. #GlorifiedHighSchoolers #PoliticallyCHEAPpeople 🤦
#NCCUCommunity | NCCU rising senior Devin Freeman and alumnus Durham Mayor Leo Williams have been selected as delegates for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Proud to be an Alumni of Consumer, Apparel, & Retail Studies Department at UNCG! Congratulations Class of 2024. It's hard to believe that I graduated over 33yrs ago from the "G." I was literally the first Auto-cad Computer class. We literally with the teacher had to figure it out together. That experience taught me that it's not what you know, that always gets you to the next level but that you have the aptitude, inquisitiveness and that you are willing to find a way in the dark. The professor was transparent and admitted that she had not been trained on the program. She thought it was a great display of team effort to create our own mode of operation and push each other into the 21st Century of Tech. Around that same time "Prodigy" was the brain child of Sears and Roebuck company that attempted to move into the age of the internet but they were too early and only had a hint of what was to come. Had they forged that path a little longer they may have become the Amazon of today. Sears formerly was the King of Retail Communication sending out the infamous Christmas Sears & Roebuck catalog every year. They almost remained the King of the Hill. Lesson: Into the dark we all may go but he who creates the flashlight or a flash of light will become the bolt that drives your mission into the next dimension. #foodforthought #sears #amazon #retail #missiondriven #uncg #whatsnext #innovation #ingenuity #human #thoughleaders #brainstorming

Honoring Leo Vinton Butts Leo Vinton Butts was the first African-American graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy and the first African-American to play for the UW varsity football team. A World War I veteran and activist, Butts later owned and operated a pharmacy and, in his UW Ph.D. thesis, was one of the first to document the history of African-Americans in pharmacy. This blog post truly reflects our profound learning experience in Montgomery, Alabama. It truly reflected our mission of “Leadership for Just and Humane Schools” at the National Superintendents Roundtable. What a power symposium!
🚨 New Blog Post! 🚨 Reflections from Montgomery, A Superintendent’s Notes I recently had the powerful opportunity to visit Montgomery, Alabama, with fellow superintendents. This experience was not just about learning history—it was about confronting the unfinished legacies of slavery, segregation, and systemic injustice that still shape our nation today. From the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park to the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, this journey challenged my understanding of America’s past and my role as an educator in shaping its future. Now that I know—what will I do? More importantly, now that “we” know—what will “we” do?
