What a wonderful start to 2024!!
We are delighted to announce Sevenoaks Council recently approved plans for a solar farm near Edenbridge, projected to supply power to 3,700 households annually. Our proposal for Gaywood East Solar Farm received unanimous support from the Council's Development Committee, echoing the endorsement of planning officers and emphasising its significant contribution to the UKs renewable energy objectives.
Having demonstrated very special circumstances, we await final clearance from the Secretary of State owing to its Green Belt placement as the solar farm targets a 2025 energisation. We have committed to ongoing community involvement, ensuring compliance with pre-construction traffic management and flood mitigation measures. Voltis Renewables is delighted with the approval, highlighting the pressing need to address climate emergencies and CO2 targets.
James Madigan said “the solar farm's layout would lead to substantial benefits for local biodiversity and the location will continue to sustain sheep farming ensuring a stable income and allowing landowners to practice pastoral farming on the land for future generations, additionally the land will be fully returned to agricultural use at the end of the life of the solar farm.
Through collaborative efforts with the landowners and our partners at Locogen, the project aims to strike a balance between electricity generation and land conservation, fostering agricultural growth and bolstering biodiversity. This emphasizes the project's role in providing sustainable, locally sourced energy to the national grid. Initiatives like these, championed by Voltis Renewables and supported by local stakeholders, are crucial in advancing our collective journey toward a sustainable future. It's these actions, aligning with climate targets and emphasizing renewable energy, that pave the way for a greener, more promising tomorrow.
Construction, set to commence in 2024, will be overseen by our partners Aukera, focusing on preserving habitats while optimizing clean energy generation.
