🚛✨ Upgrade Your HGV Fleet with The Progressive Safe System! ✨🚛 From 28 October 2024, all HGVs rated below three stars will need to install the Progressive Safe System (PSS). Here's a quick summary of the seven key requirements: 1️⃣ Camera Monitoring System (CMS): Must be fitted to the nearside to eliminate blind spots. Can replace Class V and VI mirrors if it meets UNECE standards. 2️⃣ Class V and VI Mirrors or CMS: Must be fitted to the front and nearside of the vehicle. 3️⃣ Blind Spot Information System: Ensures full coverage down the nearside to detect vulnerable road users, avoiding activation by stationary objects. 4️⃣ Moving Off Information System (MOIS): Warns drivers of vulnerable road users in the front blind spot when moving off from rest. 5️⃣ Side Under-Run Protection: Must be fitted to both sides of the vehicle where practical. 6️⃣ Audible Warnings: Provide alerts to vulnerable road users when the vehicle is turning. 7️⃣ External Warning Signage: Clearly visible signs indicating hazards around the vehicle, preferably in A3 size where possible. 🚨 Enforcement: Driving an HGV in most of Greater London without a valid permit could result in a penalty charge of up to £550 (reduced to £275 if paid within 14 days). Ensure your fleet is compliant and keep our roads safe! 🛡️🚦 📞 07834 999 191 📧 info@thefss.group 🔗 www.thefss.group

Weight distribution is so important for road safety! Weight disruption is a work of art and can be extremely challenging depending on what kind of work you do... To prevent overloading axles, here are a few tips to keep in mind: Know your axle limits: get familiar with your vehicle's axle weights, you can check this on the manufacturer plate or for HGVs, you could check the VT6 Distribute the load: distribute the heavier items across the trailer and if you are doing multiple drops, remember as you take the weight of the front it may increase the weight on other axles Load security: use securing equipment to secure the load but not damage the load, proper load securing will prevent it from shifting Just to name a few... As we can see in this video, getting weight distribution wrong can be fatal Load security and distribution is what NationalCPC specialise in, come join our HGV Load Security and Health and Safety CPC module If you have any questions about driver CPC training needs or inquiries please contact us: 📞02034576785 📧info@nationalcpc.co.uk 💻www.nationalcpc.co.uk #Loadsecurity #HGV #CPC #Nationalcpc

Wearing a seat belt in a commercial vehicle is not just a legal requirement—it's a lifesaver. Citations for not wearing a seat belt restraint are the second-most common FMCSA violation. According to FMCSA Code 392.16, drivers must not operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) without being properly restrained by a seat belt. CMV drivers must ensure that passengers on board wear their seat belts while the vehicle is in motion. Proper seat belt use significantly reduces the risk of injury or death in the event of an accident. At High Mountain Safety, we understand the critical importance of this safety measure and offer comprehensive training programs to ensure your drivers always buckle up. By partnering with us, you can enhance your fleet's safety culture, improve your CSA scores, and demonstrate your commitment to driver well-being and compliance. Let's work together to make your fleet safer and more reliable. #FleetSafety #SeatBeltSafety #HighMountainSafety #CSAScores #DriverTraining #CDLDriver #CDL

HGV drivers, are you up-to-date on the latest direct vision standards? Conforming to these new standards means enhanced safety for everyone on the road. Our team is here to guide you through the process and ensure your vehicles meet the necessary standards. 📍 Where DVS Applies: The DVS enforcement zone spans all of Greater London, including vehicles from outside the UK. 🌟 Star Ratings: Every vehicle receives a star rating indicating the driver's visibility from the cab. Ratings range from 0 to 5, with 1 star required for compliance (rising to 3 stars in October 2024). 💡 Compliance Solutions: Vehicles falling below the minimum star rating need to adopt the Progressive Safe System (PSS) to comply.

How to Maintain Roadworthiness for Your HGVs and Stay Compliant 🚛 Roadworthiness is crucial for keeping your HGVs safe and compliant on the roads. Failure to meet standards can lead to costly fines, OCRS penalties, or even worse—road accidents. Here’s how to stay on top of HGV roadworthiness: 1. Regular Inspections: Schedule daily walkaround checks and regular in-depth inspections to catch issues early. 2. Tachograph Compliance: Ensure your drivers’ working hours and rest periods are properly recorded and monitored. 3. Brake & Tyre Checks: These are often overlooked but are the most common cause of HGV failures. Keep them in top shape! 4. Keep Records: Make sure all maintenance and service records are up-to-date and accessible. Keeping your fleet roadworthy not only ensures safety but also helps you avoid penalties from the DVSA. PSA to all motor carriers out there...make sure your DOT annual inspection forms for regulated trailers include rear impact guards as an inspected component. This requirement went into effect in late 2021, but I'm still seeing a lot of inspection reports that omit the guards. This is a problem. #trucking #truckingindustry #dotcompliance #trucksafe

Are You Up to Date on Periodic Vehicle Inspections? 🔍 Many operators of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) find the rules around periodic (annual) inspections confusing. In fact, in 2023, one of the top violations cited during roadside inspections was “Operating a CMV without proof of a periodic inspection.” To help you avoid fines and keep your fleet compliant, here are some key points to understand: 1. Who needs to be inspected? If your vehicle qualifies as a CMV (10,001+ pounds, designed for 8+ passengers for hire, or hauling hazardous materials), it needs an annual inspection. 2. Do trailers require inspections? Yes, if they’re part of a combination weighing 10,001 pounds or more. 3. What’s needed for proof of inspection? Keep a copy of the inspection report or a decal with the inspection details in the vehicle. 4. State-specific requirements: Some states, like California and Texas, require more frequent inspections, so be sure to know your local regulations! Understanding these basics can help keep your operations running smoothly and avoid penalties. https://cc94.co/3XXO4CZ #CMV #VehicleInspections #SafetyFirst #FleetManagement #Compliance #Transportation #NTA

CVSA’s Brake Safety Week Scheduled for Aug. 25-31 The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has announced Aug. 25-31 as the dates for this year’s Brake Safety Week. CVSA-certified inspectors will conduct routine commercial motor vehicle inspections throughout the week, focusing on brake systems and components. CMVs found to have brake-related out-of-service violations will be removed from roadways until those violations are corrected. For this year’s Brake Safety Week, inspectors will focus on the condition of brake linings and pads. Brake lining and pad issues may result in vehicle violations and could affect a motor carrier’s safety rating.
