Lot's of interesting ideas shared at this event. It's a big task trying to get all of these important institutions on the same page. But if successful, it will be well worth all the headaches. #semiconductor #technology #innovation
Thank you to the more than 100 people who attended our in-person Technical Steering Committee, MOSIS 2.0 and Hub Operations meetings held at the USC Information Sciences Institute on May 15 and 16! “The meetings went very well,” Steve Crago, DREAMS director, said. “They brought together the institutions of our hub in person to plan our work over the next several months. We formed several groups or committees that will develop and carry out our plans for technical roadmapping, project and Option Year 1 planning, and MOSIS 2.0 activities.” Read the complete story here: https://lnkd.in/ei-VPjjJ

Join us on March 28th for a research seminar talk by Joaquin Rodriguez at TBS Education in-person or online! Abstract This study addresses the challenge faced by many industrial manufacturers engaged in #digitaltransformation as they rearchitect their physical products into #digital assets that can be orchestrated by the firm’s business customers as part of their own digital strategic initiatives. In the context of a century old firm that pioneered the professional coffee machine market, we find that architectural #innovation occurs at multiple levels – within and outside the individual machines – driven by three #design principles: programmatic bitstring encapsulation, hardware abstraction, and physical extensibility and decoupling. Each principle is enacted through a series of cohesive design moves that result in a design hierarchy inversion subverting the historical supremacy of the machine's mechanical architecture over the software, and the resulting digital solutions. This inversion is an example of ontological reversal, pushing our understanding of the phenomenon in industrial settings beyond the current notion of a temporal reversal in design. Our observations suggests that ontological reversal has deeper roots and far-reaching implications than the above view implies, challenging the very foundation of firms’ value creation activities. On March 22, Charles Choyce, Que-Anh Pham, and Anton Sibrin will present "Proper and Effective Uses of Recovery Schedules on Construction Projects" at the AACE International Region 2 Northeast Symposium. This session will explore the steps that should be taken to minimize the risk associated with a demand for a recovery schedule, how a contractor should respond to such a demand, how to approach acceleration and schedule development, what to include (and not include) in a recovery schedule, and who pays for the acceleration costs to meet a recovery schedule. #aacenesymposium2024 #construction

An interesting online #discussion “Exploring #EUForeignPolicy in the Israel-Palestine Conflict through National Policy Divergences” has just taken place. Young Security Conference invited Dr Frederic CHARILLON (Paris Cité University) and Dr Peter Lintl (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP)) to dwell on EU foreign policy in the #Israel-#Palestine conflict. Speakers presented historical, political, sociological and cultural factors that shaped different stances on this #conflict in #Germany and #France. Here are some take aways: ✔️Germany strongly supports Israel whereas the political line of Emmanuel Macron is not clear & not understood neither by Israel nor by Arab states ✔️ Germany tells Israel to obey international law but doesn’t demand a ceasefire meanwhile France clearly calls for it ✔️ EU doesn’t have one voice on this matter but they should go together ✔️ Both Germany and France are trying to have a leading voice in the region ✔️ Russia is aligned with #GlobalSouth (except for India) and is feared to be able to create social tensions in France and other European states, especially regarding external influence on upcoming #elections (even more than #China).
🎙️ Meet the minds shaping the discussion! We're thrilled to have Professor Frederic Charillon and Dr. Peter Lintl as our speakers. Moderation comes from our YSC Fellow Nina Felice Krasel. Register now for an enlightening exploration: https://bit.ly/3sX7Lyk #EUForeignPolicy #Webinar

Have you ever wondered how Science Advisory Committees and councils (SACs) and Arms Length Bodies (ALBs) interact with government departments? Well look no further. https://lnkd.in/ezHATRKH This effort will: ▪ Enable transparency - clearly displaying connections between departments and science advisory bodies. ▪ Accelerate training - allowing people inside and outside of government to study and understand the science system in government. ▪ Foster better policy making - giving those working on specific topics to find where relevant science advisory bodies are and expand their range of expertise, and signpost where opportunities might exist for external experts to engage with policy. Post your observations in the comments 👇
