Scaling Up for a Greener Future Across Europe, a dedicated team of scientists and engineers has been working hard to create new clean energy solutions. Under the umbrella of the Bio-FlexGen project, they aimed to make combined heat and power plants more efficient and sustainable. However, with new solutions come new challenges. The team had to ensure their solution could thrive not just in controlled conditions. It must also work in the real world, across various scales and contexts. Therefore, they meticulously analysed every detail—technical specs, economic models, and regulatory frameworks. Their efforts culminated in the Deliverable D4.3 report, an in-depth analysis of the scalability and replicability of our combined heat and power (CHP) technology. Our latest report dives into the technical feasibility, economic viability, regulatory considerations, environmental impact, and social acceptance of the Bio-FlexGen concept. Find more information on our report, including the full deliverable, in our new website post: https://lnkd.in/eYmWjtTj #CleanTech #BioEnergy #GreenFuture #SustainableEnergy

Discover CEEZER's project developers: Phlair 🌫 Phlair is a German technology developer focused on highly cost- and energy-efficient electrochemical acid and base regeneration. The primary application of this technology is in direct air capture (DAC), where reducing energy consumption in the regeneration of CO2-absorbing fluids is critical. Their first-of-a-kind plant (Electra 01) is set for deployment in early 2025, with durable storage of captured CO2 facilitated by mineralization partner Paebbl in the Netherlands. Forward credits and long-term offtake opportunities from the upcoming Electra 01 plant (260 tCO2/year starting in 2025) are available directly on the CEEZER platform. Phlair’s unit-sized Hydrolizer stacks enable rapid upscaling, from single unit projects to larger commercial facilities. Credits from the Dawn plant (20,000 tCO2/year starting in 2026) will be available soon. Malte Feucht, CEO of Phlair says “marketplaces play an integral part in helping companies reach net zero by connecting buyers with vetted and trustworthy carbon removal suppliers.” CEEZER’s Sophie-Louise Elsässer Elsaesser experienced Phlair’s technology firsthand during the opening of their lab in Ismaning earlier this summer. A guided lab tour and her participation in a panel on the future’s challenges for carbon removal’ provided her with the opportunity to both share insights and learn more about the fundamental science behind the technology. Learn more about CEEZER and our suppliers here: [https://lnkd.in/e_d5vmWK]. #DAC #VCM #CarbonMarkets #ClimateAction

Dr. Kent Warren, our Chief Science Officer, presented the results of our long-term durability demonstration earlier this week at ASME’s 18th International Conference on Energy Sustainability in, “An Efficient and Scalable Approach to Solar Thermochemical Fuel Production via an Iron Aluminate-Based, Pressure-Swing Redox Cycle.” In this demonstration, OMC’s proprietary active material was subjected to over 60 days of time under process relevant conditions and exhibited exceptional, industry-leading chemical stability that paves the way for commercial trials and cost advantages over competing technologies that steadily degrade over time. The use of heat and resilient, low-cost, and globally abundant materials to make green hydrogen or to repurpose CO2 back into useful chemicals and fuels offers a paradigm shift for scalable, affordable industrial decarbonization. Much thanks to Justin T. and Liam Taylor for their work on this demonstration. #ptl #greenhydrogen #thermochemistry #co2utilization

It's that time of week again, time for this week's Scottish start-up to watch this year. Today I'm braving the leap from science into the world of engineering, to highlight LIND Limited. Founded back in 2019 LIND have been on an incredible journey over the last 4 years, winning a variety of awards and grants, topped off by an incredible £900,000 investment in December 2023. LIND and their team have developed a novel battery technology which is capable of operating efficiently at increased temperatures, allowing the system to release the potential of water-filled heating, in both an industrial and domestic setting. Their patented technology vastly reduces Carbon emissions, as well as having the potential to reduce heating bills by storing green electricity (something I know I could use). As well as this, their product has a potential lifespan of over 20 years, 10 times the average lifespan of a standard Lithium-Ion battery, making this a non-toxic, carbon efficient and scalable product suitable for domestic and industrial use. Given their strong end to 2023, and the exciting and unique nature of their technology, 2024 is shaping up to be an excellent year for the team at LIND, and I will be keeping a close eye on them. #SRGScotland #greenenergy #Engineering #electrochemistry

We are excited to share that members of our team are involved in the #NICOLHy project, and that its website (👇) is operative and running! Let's remind us that the #NICOLHy project aims to develop a novel insulation concept based on Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIP) that enables the safe, cost- and energy efficient storage of large quantities of liquefied hydrogen (LH2) at around its liquefaction temperature: -253 °C ("cool" isn't it?!) Such large scale #LH2 #storage #technology is necessary for establishing a #hydrogen economy with dimensions between 40.000 m³ and more than 200.000 m³ of LH2. The novel #concept will adopt a new #modular system, applicable for #onshore and #offshore applications. The #NICOLHy #consortium is ideally suited for this ambitious project. It brings together experts from the fields of cryothermodynamics, marine, chemistry, process, and safety engineering! Check it out and stay tuned!
