As we know the statistics around female founded startups is scarily low. For every £1 of venture capital (VC) investment in the UK, all-female founder teams get less than 1p, all-male founder teams get 89p, and mixed-gender teams 10p. Venture capital investment in start-ups with female founders is increasing but progress is very slow. At current rates, for all-female teams to reach even 10% of all deals will take more than 25 years (until 2045) 🤢. That's why we host our Quarterly pitch nights giving talented entrepreneurs the space to present their ventures to a room of investors, fellow founders and supporters. Our November Pitch Night at Huckletree saw seven female-founded and co-founded start-ups pitch their business in industries from Fintech to Healthtech. All of these founders are in the process of raising with many taking cheques from £1k upwards. Here's a glimpse of the evening: - 🌙 luna : A teen-focused digital health companion making waves with its downloads and funding. - 🤖 dermie.AI by Base Plus. An AI skin journaling app revolutionizing skincare routines. - 💹 CloudFO: Offering generative AI for insightful financial analysis and forecasting. - 🌸 Bloomful.io: Personalized women's healthcare with a mission to provide seamless experiences. - 💞 Quinky: Exploring intimacy with a playful twist. - 🏥 Bloume Health: Pioneering AI care for genito-pelvic pain. - 🚀 Overploy: Creating an internal talent marketplace for authentic employee-generated content. 💸 All of these founders are in the process of raising with many taking cheques from £1k upwards so there is no better time to spread the word, make introductions to your network or invest in the future you want to see in the world. The Power To Build Confidence was the focus of an intimate roundtable discussion at The Stack World Women and Power Summit. Confidence is the driving force behind self-assuredness and success. It's the key ingredient that empowers individuals to step forward and pursue their goals. But is confidence something innate, or is it learned over time? We had none other than Stefanie Sword-Williams FRSA (she/her) host the roundtable discussion. She is the founder of platform and event series F*ck Being Humble, having refined her method of imparting self-worth and self-promotion skills by giving talks at industry panels and events. This discussion brought together an inspiring line up of women from diverse fields who have harnessed the power of confidence to achieve remarkable success in their lives. Firstly, we were joined by Fisayo Longe who is the founder of Kai Collective, a London-based community brand of attainable luxury clothing, intentionally crafted for ultimate confidence. Also sharing her words of wisdom was Manager to Skepta and Sarz, Co-Founder of METALLIC INC. and Founder of Homecoming, Grace Ladoja. A tireless champion of creativity, Grace’s unique insight shapes global trends. Founder of the clothing rental app HURR, Victoria Prew also joined the round table discussion. As an award-winning entrepreneur, Victoria is not afraid to challenge the status quo. Lastly, LYDIA PANG CEO and Co-Founder of MØRNING. Lydia is a self-professed goth and is currently launching her own studio and brand back home in Wales. In their discussion they all shared actionable strategies for building self-confidence. Here’s a recap of those points: *Nature or Nurture: Is confidence something you are born with, or is it developed over time? *Our panellists delved into how their upbringing has influenced their confidence and shaped their levels of self-assurance over time and helped to propel them towards achieving their wildest dreams and embrace life out of their comfort zones with dogged determination. *During the roundtable the women shared their experiences of when they feel the least confident and discussed effective ways to build their confidence over time. Mentoring and peer support play integral roles in empowering women to be able to build and embrace their confidence, pursue leadership roles, put themselves forward for new opportunites and reach their goals with passion and vigour. *The art of being confident is a skill that always needs to be nurtured and thus it is important to note that confidence is not static but instead dynamic, it ebbs and flows over time and across the many seasons and stages of our lives. Whether you want to build confidence to leave your comfort zone, rewrite your own rules, lead in the workplace or embrace all things self-love this session empowered members with the tools to enable their inner confidence to flourish for the rest of 2023 and beyond. #stackworld #womenandpowersummit

Women are great negotiators. Time has proved that again and again. But getting to yes is a critical skill. Lawyer, Consultant, and expert negotiator, Cyran Field-Bampton joined us at The Stack World Women and Power Summit for her interactive workshop on The Power To Negotiate. Cyran has negotiated all of life; her parents raised her with the mantra ‘if you don’t ask, you don’t get’ and consequently she has made a successful career with this way of thinking. Her day-to-day work throughout her career has influenced what she knows about negotiation. Whilst at university she was selected to join the negotiation team and compete nationally during her undergraduate degree and again whilst at law school. Fast-forward to today and Cyran has negotiated multi-million dollar deals working for international companies including Amazon, Vodafone, The Economist and Disney and now mentors other professionals who want to develop and sharpen their negotiation skills. Here are some key takeaways from Cyran’s workshop: *Embracing a Negotiation Mindset: Cyran encouraged the audience to adopt a mindset where everything in life is negotiable. *The Power of Negotiating: Negotiation is a transformative skill, if used correctly can have the power and potential of positively steering your life's course. By leading negotiations with strong questions, individuals can ask for more in various areas of their life. *Overcoming Fear: One of the major hurdles in negotiation is fear and negative self-talk that often hinders women when it comes to negotiating. These fears include concerns about being taken advantage of, feeling unprepared, fear of the unknown, fear of being perceived as being 'too pushy' and discomfort when discussing money. *Effective Negotiation Strategies: The workshop delved into strategies and techniques for successful negotiation. Members learnt how to strike a balance between assertiveness and collaboration, as well as the importance of empathy, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence in negotiation. *Turning Rejection into Opportunity: Rejection and getting a NO in negotiation was reframed as a "Next Opportunity," encouraging members to view it as a chance to learn, improve and be optimistic for bigger and better opportunities. *Preparation: Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Cyran stressed the importance of being well-prepared for negotiations. This involves research and a willingness to discuss strengths, skills, experiences, and the value one can bring. In her workshop Cyran offered members a practical go-to negotiation formula and negotiation scripts that can be applied in various scenarios that members could implement in their daily lives well beyond the summit. #thestackworld #womenandpowersummit
