🇦🇹🇦🇲 Working from Vienna vs working from Yerevan Vienna has become a 2nd home to me, and I’ve spent quite a bit of time here. Every visit reaffirms why this city is a unique place to work. Here are some key aspects I’ve noticed about the work culture in Vienna: • Punctuality: Being on time is essential and reflects professionalism. In Armenia, being 5-10 minutes late is quite normal. In Vienna, however, there’s no way you can get away with that! Meetings start promptly, and everyone expects you to be there on the dot. • Work-Life Balance: Almost everything shuts down at 8 PM, and even earlier at 7 PM on weekends. This was the most unusual thing for me to adjust to! In Yerevan, I’m used to working 12-14 hour days, and everyone supports that hustle. But here, if you send an email after working hours, it will stay unanswered until the next day. It’s strange and not quite my style yet. When I’m in Vienna, I miss the lively, late-night working hours from Yerevan’s coffeeshops. • Teamwork and Collaboration: While roles are well-defined, there’s a collaborative spirit that encourages team bonding and collective success. This part is totally the same as in Armenia. • Early Starts: Life in Vienna often starts at 6am. People engage in sports or exercise as early as 5 AM, enjoy a slow coffee and breakfast, and then head to work. By 11am, much of the day’s work is already accomplished. In Armenia, people usually start around 9-10am, though we came to 8am-5pm schedule at Magnus HR, but still. 🔍 Have you worked in Vienna or another city in Austria? What are your thoughts? Immersing ourselves in the vibrant culture of Portugal, embracing challenges, and diving into creative brainstorming against the backdrop of the Atlantic, we didn't just work; we thrived together. 🌊🏰 What did we discover? 🤔 ➡️ A shift in perspective: Leaving the office sparked newfound freedom and trust among the team. Conversations flowed easily, bonds strengthened, and understanding grew. ➡️ Embracing team culture: We went beyond typical team-building activities, focusing on our core values and aspirations. By clarifying our mission and roles, we set the stage for a more aligned future. ➡️ Unleashing creativity: From problem-solving challenges to strategic brainstorming sessions, our workation provided the perfect backdrop for innovation to flourish. Even amidst the Atlantic winds, creativity soared. But perhaps the most profound revelation was our team's unwavering dedication and enthusiasm in shaping stylink's vision and fostering a joyful, collaborative culture, filling me with immense pride. Workation went beyond work, creating lasting memories from exploring Portugals vibrant streets to celebrating successful barbecue parties. Each experience left a lasting impression on our journey. So, would I do it all over again? Absolutely. Connect with local professionals offline (e.g., cafes, conferences, etc..) 4️⃣ Find shared interests: Build connections beyond your title (photography, social impact, local cuisine even - easy in Spain! 😋 ). 5️⃣ Glo-cal content mindset: Tailor content for a glo-cal audience (remember you are targeting now a more diverse audience!) 6️⃣ Speak the local lingo: adapt to local rules to show respect and open doors for deeper connections. 7️⃣ Collaborate across borders: Partner with people you meet! Co-hosted masterclasses can expand your reach. 8️⃣ Showcase global skills: Highlight new skills learned abroad to show adaptability. 9️⃣ Engage globally: Join LinkedIn groups focused on international collaboration or regional trends. 🔟 Advocate for local causes: Use your platform to raise awareness for social or environmental issues that are trendy in your summer destination. By following these tips, you can transform your travel experiences into powerful personal branding tools! 🎗 Remember: authenticity is ALWAYS key, in any culture. Brussels is getting empty. Work life here is slowing down. Most of the projects with clients have been wrapped up, some are in estivation mode and will pick up again towards the end of August, some will yet have to be kicked off. Less active client work means more time for myself, reflecting on what's happened so far this year, dreaming about what is yet to come, and for developing new ideas and approaches that I could offer to my clients. In fact, a lot of the methods I use when working with clients, I also apply to myself and my business. By walking the talk, I feel I can be of better, more authentic service to my clients - and ensure that I stay aligned with my values, mission and vision. Here is what I wish I knew earlier: 🏘️𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: Luxembourg's charm comes with a hefty price tag, especially in the city center.
