Developing Renewable Energy Forecasting Tools

As we head into the summer months, we expect wind production to drop in #MISO. Last June, MISO on-peak system-wide mean wind production dropped below 20% installed capacity, while March and April saw generation to be +40% of installed capacity. We expect to see similar trends this year. We took some screen shots from our new Mid-Term Nodal Renewable Forecast tool (here is a sneak-peak). The graphs show mean-hourly on-peak wind generation for MISO wind zones. Colors show generation as a percent of installed zonal capacity; red colors indicate more production and blue indicates less production. We pulled historical production (March&April) with our Estimated Actuals feature and used our Mid-Term Forecast to estimated future months (May&June).
