THE WASTE LAND by T. S. Eliot The Waste Land, though written nearly a century ago, is more relevant today than ever. Written in the shadow of the first World War, the poem captures the very essence of the transformed landscape and the radically altered society of the 20th century. https://lnkd.in/etr6fB2z

A major project to lock up more than 4,000 tonnes of carbon in peat soil by creating a wetland has got under way. The first stage of the project began in May as the peat soil was seeded with a mix of five native grasses. Peatlands are a natural carbon dioxide sink, absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere and retaining it in the soil rather than the atmosphere. https://zurl.co/T0JD

Reforesting the world | Planting 1 trillion trees by 2050 | Sustainability as a Service | Forest Development Manager
For those in my network who aren't aware, Earth Day is coming up next Monday (22nd) - I am a big believer in companies and corporations taking responsibility for their actions, especially on an environmental level. It just so happens that I work for company that makes it easy for corporations to own this responsibility and generate a positive impact on the world around them. If you haven't already, I would urge you to think about planting trees on Tree-Nation to celebrate Earth Day and to begin to create a positive impact, not just on the planet, but on the people and communities who are directly involved in our global reforestation efforts. When trees cost as little as 0.50€, and you can plant as an individual, or a company, there aren't too many excuses... You can plant trees in any of our 50+ projects here 👉 https://lnkd.in/d9KQzmZ8 , or alternatively, reach out to me and I will get it done for you!

Talk about a no-brainer. Let’s pick off the easy wins and protect these important carbon sinks. (Amateur gardener)
The UK's peatlands store more carbon than the forests of the UK, Germany and France combined. 📉 But they’re in a sorry state because of overgrazing, burning, and peat extraction for compost. This damage is so serious that they’re currently a net carbon emitter of carbon. 📜 A bill introduced by Theresa Villiers MP today represents the last chance saloon for Defra to fulfil its promise to ban sales of peat to amateur gardeners – a move that got overwhelming public support in a recent consultation. 👇 Ruth Chambers is quoted in Emma Gatten's Telegraph story today https://lnkd.in/eC6HBXQR
