Big announcement today from our federal partners at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as they aim to enhance the use of data and technology to improve the delivery of health and human services. I am grateful to my federal colleagues, Andrea Palm and Micky Tripathi, for their vision and leadership in making this a reality, further elevating this work to align with efforts underway across states nationwide. At the California Health & Human Services Agency we have adopted this approach by launching the CalHHS Center for Data Insights and Innovation, led by John Ohanian who also serves as our Chief Data Officer, and the CalHHS Office of Technology and Solutions Integration, led by Adam Dondro who also serves as our Chief Information and Technology Officer. We also recently released our first CalHHS IT and Data Strategic Plan that envisions a future where every Californian is proactively made aware of and seamlessly connected to a comprehensive, inclusive, and equitable set of health and human services matched to their holistic needs. We imagine a connected network of state, local, and community providers, an ecosystem of coordinated services, and the secure, appropriate use of comprehensive demographic, socioeconomic, encounter, and outcomes data to generate insights that drive equitable policies, programs, and service delivery. Together, and alongside our federal partners, we can and we will be person-centered, equity-focused, and data-driven. https://lnkd.in/g-ESkrgH

Within just one year, a single hospital surpasses the entire data holdings of the United States Library of Congress by generating approximately 137 terabytes of data daily! But this gold mine is still severely underleveraged. Here is a good short read on the topic. A few quick takes are: 1. The medical sector has vast clinical and patient-generated data but struggles to integrate and utilize it effectively due to outdated systems. 2. Patient data faces challenges like interoperability issues, fragmented data, and security concerns. 3. The future of healthcare involves empowering patients with data control, merging it with physicians’ insights, and enabling patient-researcher data sharing for advancements. #data #patientdata #healthcare #healthrecords #interoperability #security #patientempowerment https://lnkd.in/en_rFNZB

Unlocking the promise of precision health will require us to see multiple threads of data in one place. In order to do that, we need to treat data as the most precious resource. Health data is not just numbers and proof points – they represent daily moments in people’s lives, living artifacts. We take stewardship of these data very seriously. Our precision health platform is establishing a footprint that securely laces together all of these privileged spaces of interaction with software and hardware solutions. By aggregating consented data – all in one place – we can make use of clinical and non-clinical data. A concerning incident reported by Healthcare IT News reveals that Nuance, a healthcare technology company, experienced a data breach affecting over a million patients. The breach occurred when a former employee's access to health system records wasn't revoked upon termination. This situation underscores the need for stringent access management and document security in healthcare settings. At Manage You, we understand these challenges and offer solutions: 1. Centralized document storage with controlled access 2. User permission management to ensure only authorized personnel can view sensitive information 3. Automated tracking of employee status changes to update access rights promptly Healthcare organizations can significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access and potential data breaches by implementing robust document management systems like Manage You. How is your organization addressing document security and access control? Let's discuss in the comments. #HealthcareIT #DataSecurity #DocumentManagement #HealthTech Read more about the incident here: https://loom.ly/cvuOw8w This post connects the recent data breach incident to Manage You's features, emphasizing how the app can help prevent similar security issues in healthcare organizations. Protecting healthcare data is HARD! Genomics research is booming, but let's talk about the elephant in the room: data security. It's crucial because without it, research slows down, and that's not good for anyone. Imagine you're a doctor trying to treat a patient, but you don't have all their info. That's the reality when patient data is scattered across different systems. It makes it hard to give the best care possible. And it's not just about patient care. Slow research means delays in developing new therapies. Think about the life-saving treatments we could be missing out on! Plus, all this inefficiency drives up healthcare costs. We end up wasting time and money on duplicated research efforts. Not cool. So, what's the solution? We need to beef up our security measures. Think strict encryption and access controls. We've got to keep that data safe from prying eyes. But it's not just about locking things down. We need to encourage collaboration too! At the end of the day, it's all about finding that intersection between protecting genetic data and making sure it's used to its full potential for the greater good. We believe that the Rayca Secured Research Environment is that intersection. Please watch this video to see how it works: https://lnkd.in/d5JjJnpH I will write more about it in the next posts. #DataSecurity #Genomics #Healthcare #HealthcareData #EHR #EMR
