As I look back to recap on this year’s Eurobike 2024: I could go into macroeconomics and industry obstacles, BUT, I won’t. I want to share something that is part of my “KISS” (𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗜𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗱) 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶. 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. As I am in the 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀’ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, one thing that I would like to see Bike Festival organizers 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 “𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆” 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 - 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗯-𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿. In addition, 𝗯𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 like helmets and goggles, so that: 1) The bike testers are safe at the Festival 2) There is cross promotion between products and  3) We send a message to the public that 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗟𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 Seems like a very simple change to implement, right? 'Circular revolution': Transforming cycling into a more sustainable industry At TAIPEI CYCLE I ran into Thomas Hallam-Gravells from #GCN. We had an interesting chat about #sustainability in the #cycling industry, which resulted in this great article. We talked about #design: "We should really be #designing from a #user perspective. The user doesn't want a creaking bike, they don’t want to replace chains and chainrings and all sorts of other stuff, they just want a #bike that runs very long.” On how things are #moving: “And slowly but steadily, things are changing. I mean five years ago, there was no way I could get in contact with TAIPEI CYCLE or the #Taiwanese cycling industry, and now I get invited to run a #workshop here.” And the role of the Union Cycliste Internationale: “I would really like to encourage the UCI to say ‘we use the #propeloton as a platform for #innovation, on #sustainable and #circular #materials’. So, they could set up rules to say we’re going to raise the minimum weight limit from 6.8kg to say 8kg. There’s a lot of room for #experimenting with different materials, like #biobased composite materials, which are already out there, already being used in Formula 1 and in #sailing boats. Could you #imagine what would happen if you do have the space to start innovating on a new generation of materials and the UCI says you need to have at least 50% #recycled content or 50% #biobased materials, and all of the components on the bikes need to be properly #recyclable, so they don’t end up in a landfill or an incinerator, but can be brought back into the production process? Back in 2002, we developed a patent for customizing saddles based on pressure distribution mapping. Now, Fizik is bringing this technology to the global market with Project One-to-One, offering individually customized 3D-printed saddles. This is a huge step forward in cycling technology!   With over 20 years of experience, gebioMized has played a key role in this innovative project.
