The INDIRE conference preparations are going well. As we approach the final setup stage, there were few small adjustments to accommodate the complex collective schedules of our participants from around the world. The schedule is up on the website now with three primary themes: Innovation, Aviation, Education (all in relation to the digital world of course), with presentations from various areas such as climate, operations management, healthcare, digital economy Africa, students thesis works, artificial intelligence and the future, and more. I am happy with the contributions from diverse areas showing exactly what point we would like to stress: The world is inherently interconnected, and more specifically, the digital arena amplifies that connection. You do not have to present to attend. All are welcome and we would love your participation in the Forums and Think Tanks which follow a quasi-structured framework whereby all discussions and contributions from the participants lead into a document which we will publish - Similar to a guidelines document. Let us not forget the two amazing networking excursions where the the sun, the sea, the wine and our minds meet. https://lnkd.in/e2N9CtcT

Leiden secured the 6th spot in ICCA's national conference destination ranking for 2023. ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) annually ranks cities based on conference factors such as rotation in countries, frequency, and participant numbers. The first position is held by Amsterdam, followed by Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, and Maastricht. Leiden hosted 16 ICCA-approved international conferences in 2023, ranking 81st in Europe and 143rd globally. With strong collaboration among our city partners, we successfully host international scientific conferences in Leiden, despite the absence of large-scale convention centers. Connecting multiple venues in Leiden transforms the historic city center into the conference floor. Miranda Geerlings, manager of Leiden Convention Bureau, is pleased with the result. "Our 6th position in the annual ranking is a remarkable achievement for the 22nd most populated city in the Netherlands. It's a reward for the efforts of Leiden Convention Bureau, our conference ambassadors, and all our conference partners. The title of European City of Science 2022 has given the city of Leiden a place in the spotlight of science on a European scale. I believe that this title has been and will continue to be a great magnet for international conferences and associations to choose Leiden as their destination. In the years to come, the ambition for Leiden is to maintain the legacy that the title European City of Science has given Leiden and to really make an impact for Leiden as a city where science flourishes." 📷©Monique-Shaw #Leiden #cityofscience #ICCA #conference #meeting Read the official press release here: https://lnkd.in/e95a3xjy

Nowadays, 2 out of 3 students in Europe graduate from universities that are part of European Universities Alliances. These Alliances improve higher education by filling gaps in skills and build the European workforce that society needs. They can do this in efficient ways, by grouping together universities’ expertise, resources, data, staff and resources. This makes Europe more competitive and more attractive worldwide. A large increase in budget for Alliances has recently been proposed.
