Selected from a pool of 969 applicants, they emerged as part of the elite 68 European deeptech companies receiving funding. After driving #innovation across companies, can summaries my experience ... * The bootstrapped companies do not have resources for innovation. * VC funded companies does not have freedom to innovate. * Large enterprises do not priorities to innovate. The key for all is to reduce the "Cost of failures" during R&D phase. I am sharing four ways to achieve lower failure cost during innovation. 1. Don't start a project without having success / failure criteria defined. It is useless to work on project without knowing how to close or complete it. 2. Link innovation with a customer's pain. If you don't know for whom you are innovating, most likely it will be force fit later with higher chances of commercial failure. 3. Use technology / simulation wherever possible to minimize the cost. Recent developments in 3D printing, Product design tools, SAAS applications allow to reduce the developmental cost. And the last one... 4. Don't cut corners on Innovation. Be frugal but same time be aware that it is VERY costly to deploy cheap tools / resources for innovative projects. Do share your thoughts.
