The latest Care Quality Commission Maternity Survey shows despite positive improvements, there continues to be a long-term decline in people's experience of maternity care. Robert Wilson, Head of our Joint Policy Unit with Sands - baby loss charity says: "Today’s Care Quality Commission survey of maternity care shows that despite some positive parent experiences, there remain key areas for improvement. Future surveys must include the voice of bereaved parents, so that those who have experienced the worst outcomes are reflected." 🔆 National Diaper Need Awareness Week (September 23-29) shines a spotlight on a crucial issue: diaper need in the U.S.🔅 Did you know that 1 in 2 families here struggle to afford enough diapers to keep their little ones clean, dry, and healthy?👶🚼 With the cost of a monthly diaper supply ranging from $80 to over $100, many parents face tough choices, like missing work or school, because they can't afford the diapers required to leave their children in childcare. We are incredibly grateful to an anonymous donor who supports Birthline with 13 bundles of Everylife wipes and diapers each month! That adds up to 2,000 diapers a month and 52 packets of wipes, saving families over $1100 monthly with their generosity! 💕 If you would like to support Birthline's life-affirming mission to extend help to low-income pregnant women🤰 and their babies, you can purchase your diapers from EveryLife with the code BIRTHLINE10 to get 10% off your purchase, AND have 10% of the proceeds go directly to us...OR you can donate funds directly for diapers, and Birthline can purchase diapers for our client moms at an even greater discount! 🫶 #birthlineofsandiego #helpingmoms #diaperdonations #freepregnancyresources #pregnancyresourcecenter #loveanothermother #makeadifference #empowerfamilies #diaperneed #diaperneedawarenessweek

This week is Babyloss Awareness Week (https://lnkd.in/eUMqUsuQ) a time to honor and remember the lives that have been lost too soon and the families who continue to grieve. This cause holds deep significance for many— whether we've personally experienced the heartbreak of child loss or know someone who has. For families navigating the loss of a baby, the emotional toll can be immense. As several of you who know me will know, it was for me and my wife. But what’s more heartbreaking is how often these experiences are met with silence. Babyloss Awareness Week helps break that silence, fostering community, understanding, and crucial support for those affected. By raising awareness and supporting families through their grief, we can ensure no one has to walk this journey alone. I encourage you to visit Babyloss Awareness Week to learn more about how you can contribute to this cause, from spreading awareness to making a donation that supports families in need of resources, care and a bit of love. Together, we can make a difference. Every bit of compassion helps. 💙💖 The charity SANDS really helped me and my wife after our daughter was stillborn and after our miscarriage. Therefore i wanted to share the donation link here in the event that anyone was interested (https://lnkd.in/eWsJhn7G). Please do share this post (as you feel comfortable) to spread awareness. #BabylossAwarenessWeek #BreakTheSilence #SupportFamilies #RememberingTheBabies #PregnancyAndInfantLoss

Approximately 1.9 million stillbirths occur worldwide every year. That’s one baby every 16 seconds. Miscarriages are even more common, with 10–15% of pregnant women losing their baby before 28 weeks. Baby loss takes a huge emotional toll on women and families. This is especially apparent when considering that the topic is still surrounded by stigma, leading to feelings of shame and a lack of available resources. Fortunately, charities are working hard to provide families with the support they need after the death of a baby. So, we had to ask: What are the best charities for stillborn babies & baby loss? 👇 https://lnkd.in/dXX7CZ_f March of Dimes, Star Legacy Foundation, Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support, Inc., Tommy's, GAPPS (Global Alliance to Prevent Prematurity and Stillbirth), STILLBIRTH AND NEONATAL DEATH SOCIETY, The Colette Louise Tisdahl Foundation, Genesis Research Trust, Project Sweet Peas #charitysupport #stillborn #babyloss #babylosssupport #familysupport

The Bridge Community Foundation wants to open up applications to provide assistance to NYC families! Our mission is to heal the unmet maternal healthcare needs of the families we serve by providing direct access to funding, resources, and support from providers and professionals we know personally from The Bridge Directory. There are so many gaps that exist in our current healthcare experience. Who else is going to fill them, if we don't? Who will create the solutions we need? Our initiatives include: Access - Care - Education Access is a key component to our mission. This includes community funding. Our Community Fund provides access to experienced birth and postpartum doulas and home birth midwives. Your donation could fund: doula services for a BIPOC family, a lactation visit for a struggling mom/parent, or a homebirth for parents-to-be with a midwife they trust. Your financial gift will directly benefit families looking for funding and access to high-quality care. This community fund is for pregnant/new parents and families of color living in New York City and surrounding areas. We work on an honor based system, with a simple application process, and short phone interview, when applicable. Payments are made directly to the providers. Here is how you can help: We need at least 100 people to pledge $15/month and you can support the birth and postpartum of someone's dreams today. Contribute, share, spread the word. https://lnkd.in/gAKT6Bvv

North Texas Giving Day is this Thursday! You can donate now to make a difference. Your support provides critically needed essentials for homeless and at-risk children and their families. Diaper need is a cycle. One in two U.S. families cannot afford enough diapers to keep their infant or child clean, dry, and healthy. These babies are more vulnerable to painful rashes and urinary tract infections and have more trips to the doctor. One in four parents miss work or school because they can’t afford the diapers required to leave their baby in childcare. Clean diapers are a basic need of every baby and toddler. Without clean diapers: • babies are exposed to potential health risks and toxic stress • mothers are at risk for increased maternal depression • parents are unable to access child care, which require a daily supply of diapers • parents miss work or school Donate now: https://lnkd.in/gEdw66QQ #northtexasgivingday #enddiaperneed

How can the philanthropic community help ensure that New Jersey is a safer, more equitable place to give birth and raise all of our state’s children? Through their advocacy, grantmaking, fundraising, and partnership. According to findings from a recent March of Dimes report, “… U.S. systems, policies, and environments are failing moms and babies.” In 2024, too many women: ▪️ Live in maternity care deserts with no access to birthing hospitals, obstetric care, or obstetric providers ▪️ Travel longer to reach a birthing hospital — increasing their exposure to negative outcomes, including preterm birth, maternal morbidity, and stillbirth ▪️ Lack access to mental health services, prenatal care, nutrient-dense foods, and midwives and doulas We highlighted many of these issues in the latest Jersey Gives a Damn! episode featuring Ria N. Rodney, Director of Nurture NJ. We also outlined specific ways that donors, grantmakers, and fundholders can respond philanthropically to New Jersey’s unique maternal health challenges. At the state level, the Department of Children and Families plans to expand its free, universal home visitation program for new mothers to 11 counties in 2025. The Family Connects NJ program funds nurse visits to check in on the health of new mothers and their babies as well as connect them to resources — regardless of their insurance, immigration status, or income. But more can be done to support healthy pregnancies, end preventable maternal health risks, and close equity health gaps across our state. We invite you to tune in to find out how you can help. Proud husband alert 🚨🚨🚨!! My beautiful human of a wife started a non-profit focused on providing no-cost postpartum support to people following the birth of a child. It is called Helping Hands Postpartum Support. I proudly now sit on the board. Child birth is a beautiful experience most of the time, but sadly around 22% of mothers experience post-partum depression. And sadly, many people can’t afford (or experience shame) in asking for help during what could and should be a wonderful moment in life. Helping Hands supports families with in-home, in-person postpartum doula support following child birth and serves the Oakland, Macomb and Wayne county regions in Michigan. ‼️I ask 3 things of my network‼️: 1. If you feel compelled, please contribute to our mission with a tax-deductible donation to our 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions allow us to reduce post-birth complications and stress by allowing parent(s) needed space and recovery time during the “4th trimester.” 2. If you know anybody in need, please refer them to the intake form on our website! We’ve already had existing clients happily sharing testimonials. 3. Share this post! #michiganmoms #postpartum #moms #mothersday #detroitmom #detroitmoms #metrodetroitmom
