One of my favourite cities, Stockholm has launched the first-ever electric hydrofoil ferry, the Candela P-12, which could bring a paradigm shift in urban mobility. While conventional marine transport has made progress with alternative fuels, it has lagged in mechanical design innovation. This ferry could be a game changer.
🚤 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀:
⚡The Nova covers 15 kilometers in just 30 minutes, significantly faster than traditional diesel ferries.
🌱 Powered by 100% renewable electricity, it reduces energy consumption by 80% and cuts energy per passenger-kilometer by 95% compared to diesel ferries.
🛠️ Its computer-controlled hydrofoil wings lift the hull above water, minimizing drag and allowing for a smooth, wake-free ride.
🚀 With a cruising speed of 25 knots and a maximum speed of 30 knots, it outpaces other electric ferries.
🤫 The electric C-POD motors ensure minimal noise and zero emissions, making it a perfect fit for urban waterways.
Hopefully, we will see many more such advanced hydrofoil ferries around the globe. They will enhance the commuting experience and contribute to a greener planet. 🌍
