Absolutely thrilled to see six clean energy projects in Northeast Wisconsin receive grants from the USDA! 🌍 These initiatives are genuinely transforming rural communities and contributing to a sustainable future. Let's take a closer look at some of the impactful projects: ✔️ JP Grahl Farms in Fond du Lac County: Using a $70,963 grant, they'll install a small solar electric array, saving $10,078 annually and powering six homes. ✔️ Quali T Screening in Kewaunee County: With a $29,965 grant, they're setting up a roof-mount solar array, saving $2,911 each year and providing enough energy to power two homes. ✔️ Lazy J Dairy Farms in Kewaunee County: This dairy operation is using a $224,227 grant for a solar array to save $22,009 annually and power 20 homes. ✔️ Rosewood Dairy in Kewaunee County: They've secured a $500,000 grant to install energy-efficient lighting, saving $18,419 every year and enough to power 21 homes. ✔️ Frank's Inc. in Marinette County: A logging operation using an $84,485 grant for a more efficient firewood processor, saving $13,061 annually and 15 homes' worth of energy. ✔️ Bisley Fabrication in Shawano County: Getting a $147,500 grant to install a roof-mounted electric array, they'll save $18,319 yearly and provide energy for 16 homes. 🌟 Powered by the Past with Energy Efficiency! 🌟 At Platte River Power Authority, we’re excited to share our journey toward the virtual power plant, which builds on decades of commitment to energy efficiency. Our story began in 1978 with the formation of the Municipal Energy Saving Association (MESA), a collaborative effort among Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Loveland. MESA focused on promoting efficient energy use and reducing waste across our communities. In 1980, we launched the “Low Cost-No Cost” conservation program, distributing over 66,000 conservation kits to homes, empowering residents to save energy right from their own households. By 1990, we established a resource alternatives fund with up to $120 million allocated for energy efficiency, conservation, and demand-side management programs. This was a pivotal moment for shaping our future!
