What better way to kick off #PrideMonth than celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and the many contributions of leaders from across Greater Boston making change for a more equitable and inclusive Commonwealth? Our team had a great time at the Boston Business Journal Business of Pride event last week, and we look forward to joining other festivities throughout the month (and year-round). The event was also a reminder of how, each year, more companies are adopting communications (and marketing) campaigns to demonstrate allyship. The most successful of those are ones that reflect authentic actions to advance LGBTQIA+ priorities and celebrate team contributions. OR NOT? 👎 Inclusivity VS accessibility Can your brand be truly inclusive, without an accessible product? 🏳️🌈 When we consider inclusivity in the brand world, we often think culture building around the LGBTQ+ community, pride and other subcultures. 🏳️🌈 However, there’s a quiet subsection of consumers, which our physical branding is excluding. There’s at least 2.2 billion visually impaired people in the world, and with a globally ageing population, this number is only growing. 🧑🦯➡️ A study by the RNIB, found that 74% of visually impaired respondents had bought the wrong product in store, due to poor packaging guidance. Needless to say, physical branding has a long way to go, before delivering a truly inclusive brand experience.

J O U R N E Y 🚦🏳️🌈 Reflecting on my professional journey, I am struck by the immense growth and transformation I have experienced over the past few years. For eight years, I worked with an organization while navigating the challenges of being closeted. Seeking better opportunities, I eventually decided to leave and relocate to Gurgaon, which brought me to new and exciting professional landscapes. Returning to Mumbai after one year marked a significant turning point in my life. I was invited back to the same organization, not as an employee but as a panelist and participant in a skit, celebrating my identity on a grand scale. This invitation felt like a culmination of my one-year journey from being closeted to embracing my true self openly and proudly. 💬 I often wonder if the relocation played a role in this transformation. Perhaps it provided the necessary #distance and #perspective to understand my worth and the importance of authenticity. #Relocating allowed me to rediscover my strength and voice, empowering me to come out and celebrate my identity without fear.
