Airbus and SATLANTIS a leading Spanish space company specializing in optical instruments, have recently joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Their collaboration aims to develop an infrared capability for the Spanish Ministry of Defense (MoD), marking the initial stride towards a future Spanish infrared Earth observation system. This system will serve governmental purposes and possess dual-use capabilities. The partnership will entail the integration of SATLANTIS' optical and thermal cameras onto satellites that are designed and assembled by Airbus in Spain. This collaboration combines the strengths of both entities, leveraging SATLANTIS' expertise and agility in developing cameras for acquiring optical and thermal Earth observation data, along with Airbus in Spain's extensive experience as a prominent space systems integrator. Push-to-Talk technology successfully demonstrated on Fleet Space’s Centauri-4 satellite SmartSat Cooperative Research Centre (SmartSat CRC) commended Fleet Space Technologies’ successful demonstration of satellite-enabled Push-to-Talk (PTT) capabilities as part of the Defence Space Command-funded ASCEND2LEO project.  SmartSat and Safety from Space supported Fleet Space by adapting a variant of the ‘Beagle’ communications waveform, developed under previously SmartSat-funded projects, which Fleet Space implemented on the Centauri-4 satellite for this demonstration. This milestone in PTT capabilities opens a path to more secure, reliable, instantaneous communications across vast distances using highly advanced microsatellite architectures. ASCEND2LEO’s successful demonstration for the Australian Defence Force Joint Capabilities Group showed that Fleet Space’s Centauri satellites can be re-programmed to deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose voice capabilities while in orbit. Voice capabilities for Fleet Space’s Centauri satellite were enabled via a software update, establishing a proof of concept for the Regenerative Voice System architecture underlying the ASCEND2LEO program. Infineon extends radiation-hardened memory portfolio with industry’s first space qualified parallel interface 1 and 2 Mb F-RAMs Munich, Germany – 18 June 2024 – Space-based applications are an important area for Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY), with the company’s products being used in satellites, mars rover instruments and space telescopes, all of which require highest reliability even under the most adverse conditions. Infineon today announced availability of the industry’s first radiation-hardened (rad hard) 1 and 2 Mb parallel interface ferroelectric-RAM (F-RAM) nonvolatile memory devices. These additions to Infineon’s extensive portfolio of memories feature unsurpassed reliability and endurance, with up to 120 years of data retention at 85-degree Celsius, along with random access and full memory write at bus speeds.

“One of the key features is that deployables for antennas, especially solar arrays, can be challenging. And there’s a packaging challenge to try to stow them and unfurl them and keep them in the right shape, especially for certain types of antennas. And so, with the DiskSat, no deployment is required. The solar panel and whatever type of aperture you have for your RF system are already installed, and very flat. So, there’s no need to do calibration or shape it in any way.”

#Cube1G is the next development stage in our #OSIRIS family of laser communication terminals. Due to its novel coarse pointing assembly (CPA) it will be largely independent of the satellite's attitude control. The optical head enables the laser beam to be rotated around the horizontal and vertical axes, regardless of the orientation of the satellite itself. The capabilities of Cube1G will be demonstrated in the SeRANIS - Mission on the Athene-1 satellite in cooperation with Bundeswehr University Munich / Munich Center for Space Communications.
