We've already measured over a foot of sunshine this morning, which means it's going to be another scorcher! With record high temperatures and long-lasting heat wave conditions expected this week, please remember these safety tips to stay cool throughout the summer: • Hydrate: Drink water regularly, every 15 minutes or four cups per hour, and keep it within easy reach. Staying hydrated can help prevent heat stroke and provide energy. Avoid alcohol the night before. • Take breaks: Schedule frequent breaks to prevent your body from overheating. • Wear protective clothing: Wear light-colored, loose-fitting, breathable clothing made from natural materials like cotton, and avoid synthetic fabrics. Also wear a brimmed hard hat with UV protection and safety glasses. • Apply sunscreen: Regularly apply sunscreen to protect against the sun's UV rays. • Adjust your schedule: Consider changing your work schedule and making other adjustments to your facilities and working conditions to reduce heat stress. • Acclimatize: Gradually increase your exposure to the elements over a period of one to two weeks. • Use cooling fans/towels: Cooling fans/towels can be an effective part of your heat management system. #SummerHeat #HeatWave #StayCool #SafetyTips #RecordTemperatures #Scorcher #SunshineMeasurement #SummerSafety #HotWeather #HeatWaveSafety #StayHydrated

Did somebody say heatwave?🔥👋 Don’t forget to protect yourself and your staff working outside in the blazing heat. Here is a heatwave protection checklist: ✅ Hydration - As the temperatures soar, it’s imperative to stay hydrated, especially when doing hard manual labour. Remember to keep water bottles topped up throughout the day so you never run out. ✅ UV protection - Bare skin must be shielded from the sun, particularly during midday, to avoid burns. Covering up with clothing is best, and any exposed skin needs frequent application of sunscreen. ✅ Take breaks - Short breaks every hour prevent heat exhaustion. Rest in shaded or cool areas to recover. ✅ Ice Cream - Perhaps not mandatory from a health and safety point of view, but will certainly lift everyone’s spirits during the extreme weather! Keep cool and stay safe out there!☀️🧴 #safety #ppe #workwear #sunny #summer #construction #highways #roadworks
