West Bengal - List of Senior Citizens Care Homes The 23 districts of West Bengal have about 55-65 Senior Citizens Care Homes which comes to 2.5 Elderly Care Home per district. Out of the 55 Care Homes, 25 are in Kolkata district itself, which is also evident from the visible elderly population in the City of Joy. In my personal research, West Bengal has a collective Assisted Living bed capacity of 3000 for an estimated Elderly population size of 12 million (1.2 crores), which comes to 1 bed for 4300 older persons. If one has to go by the National recommendations of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment then each district should have one Senior Citizens Care Home of 150 beds, which comes to 3450 beds for West Bengal. Sharing a list of Care Homes / Assisted Living / High Dependency Care Homes in West Bengal (55 Care Homes) for the benefit of the larger cause which was compiled last year. Goa - List of Senior Citizens Care Homes Goa has a beautiful landscape, surrounded by mountains, rivers and sea. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India, but then the larger point of debate is, who is taking care of the elders of Goa? Surprisingly for a State with only 2 districts, Goa has one of the highest numbers of Senior Citizens Care Homes. In my limited analysis, it seems most of the tourist destinations / cities seem to have the highest concentration of Elderly Care Homes, I really wonder why? Sharing a list of Care Homes / Assisted Living / High Dependency Care Homes in Goa (39 Care Homes) for the benefit of the larger cause which was compiled last year. Having being serving numerous elders and their families living abroad it seems just the correct time to take this initiative to the next level. Rajasthan - List of Senior Citizens Care Homes The 33 districts of Rajasthan have about 35-40 Senior Citizens Care Homes which comes to 1 Elderly Care Home per district. In my personal research, Rajasthan has a collective Assisted Living bed capacity of 2700 for an estimated Elderly population size of 6.8 million (68 lakhs), which comes to 1 bed for 2500 older persons. If one has to go by the National recommendations of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment then each district should have one Senior Citizens Care Home of 150 beds, which comes to 4950 beds for Rajasthan which is far less than the present 2700 beds. Chhattisgarh - List of Senior Citizens Care Homes The 28 districts of Chhattisgarh have about 5-7 Senior Citizens Care Homes which comes to 0.18 Elderly Care Home per district. In my personal research, Chhattisgarh has a collective Assisted Living bed capacity of 300-350 for an estimated Elderly population size of 3.3 million (33 lakhs), which comes to 1 bed for 11500 older persons. If one has to go by the National recommendations of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment then each district should have one Senior Citizens Care Home of 150 beds, which comes to 4200 beds for Chhattisgarh. Unfortunately the existing bed capacity of 300 is way less than the 4200 beds required.
