DoD CDAO sponsorship with explicit targeting of SBIR opportunities The highlights that should concern you as a potential Gov/Mil participant: 1. A target right environment of eager and capable solution providers 2. A diverse set of capabilities on offer across a range of AI capabilities 3. Rainey. The realization may have wide-reaching implications for how the US Army trains and equips its forces. 3️⃣ Pentagon issues new guidance to address industry gripes about ATO process. "We're trying to strike a balance in maintaining our [risk management framework-driven] cybersecurity, but to make sure that we are able to move more quickly and not have to basically check everyone's homework,” CIO John Sherman told DefenseScoop. 4️⃣ Pentagon CIO previews ‘Fulcrum,’ the next digital modernization strategy. “The June time frame is when you'll be seeing some release on that," John Sherman told DefenseScoop. 5️⃣ As DoD concern grows about the increasing ability of adversaries to disrupt GPS satellite signals, experts warn that there is no one-size-fits-all alternative to meet military needs for positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) capabilities. 6️⃣ The US Navy Neptune Cloud Portal is accelerating cloud adoption to lighting speed. Couldn’t agree with you more Adam Rentschler. There are many reasons why Bonnie Evangelista and her team have received this award. Like any great team, their passion outweighs the pain of facing all the non-believers on this road less traveled. Below I’ve outlined what I’ve seen thus far and what others can take away and apply to their journey as well. 🚀They hit the ground running and canvased the community looking for early adopters and created a coalition of believers before the platform went live. 🚀They used non-traditional methods and means to connect to industry. 🚀Their intrapreneuerial spirit is a driving force of their success. 🚀Most importantly Bonnie Evangelista’s belief to stand up for what’s right, even when it’s against the grain allowed others to follow in her foot steps. 🚀 They increased the literacy of our leaders which will allow them to pivot before the problem and use the platform. I hope everyone is watching. This is leadership and this is the future. Yesterday at Spring TechConnect World Innovation Conference & Expo in Maryland, DoD SBIR/STTR evaluators and technical points of contact (TPOCs) from Defense Health Agency (DHA), US Army, AFWERX, US Navy, and DTRA JSTO Engagement-CBD on the “DoD: Evaluator and TPOC” panel shared advice and tips for proposals and what they look for when they evaluate them. They shared the most important evaluation criteria: 1) the proposal’s technical merit, 2) the proposal team’s qualification, and 3) the commercialization potential/plans for the idea/product/solution; some Services and Components also include service needs as a criterion.  Key Takeaways:  - Make sure you answer all the elements/criteria in the proposal instructions.  - Tell us what it’s going to do for the Warfighter, go beyond telling them that it’s a good technology.  - Follow the technical requirements for the proposal.  - Get clarification on technical questions from TPOCs. Read the solicitation because most answers to your questions are there.  - Provide the use-case for the solution, so the evaluators know how you think it should be used.  - Make sure you have a clear plan for commercialization, so the evaluators know you’ve been thinking about it.  - Fill out all required documents, don’t miss a box on the forms. If they provide a template, only use that. Don’t create your own. AI, autonomy, and quantum technology all fall into the category of emerging and disruptive technologies – aptly named because of the asymmetric advantage they bring to both the battlefield and the competitive business space. In this article written by Steve Blank, co-founder of Stanford Gordian Knot Center for National Security Innovation, he points out that these technologies have fundamentally upended the dominance of large prime defense contractors. How they react to this disruption “determines whether they adapt or die.” While many of the primes are still focused on preserving their bulky and expensive legacy systems using traditional Waterfall development, Ignite Digital Services is supporting digital transformation efforts across the DOD using Agile methodologies that embrace change as part of the development process.
