Happy New Year and welcome to 2024 with SGIS. We predict that this year will see lots of space based activities, both military and commercial. The optimal integration of these two will provide information advantage. Industry experts from SGIS will ensure that the commercial technologies are fully understood and exploited where practical to enhance the defence of the UK and our Allies. A recent article from the US Naval Institute states: "Commercial space assets, however, can help fill gaps and provide redundancy. This new space organizational structure is designed to take advantage of the capacity and capability of commercial space. As in many areas, commercial advances in space technology are moving faster than DoD technology, especially in communication and space domain awareness." See below for the full article.. Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation's Maegen Nix, PhD, Decision Science Division Director, and Christina Houfek, Project Manager and Principal Investigator along with Jim Moreland Jr, Ph.D. and Dr. Tyler Englestad bring you a compelling and captivating approach to “Capability Neutralization Warfare: A Systems-Informed Theory of Victory.” In the latest Naval Engineers Journal, the article describes how the threat is evolving the battlespace and introduces system destruction warfare. The article continues with the presentation of the capability neutralization warfare counterapproach and combines existing and emerging competencies to develop its concept. Finally, it explores how capability neutralization warfare impacts the United States defense ecosystem, requiring a reimagining that integrates research, engineering, acquisition, sustainment, testing, and operational force contributions into a friendly theory of victory. https://lnkd.in/dNA6iBdb I highly recommend reading this article, which details the characteristics of the UK’s most modern submarines (Astute Class). These submarines compete technologically with the US Virginia Class. Both submarines and their technology form the foundation for the AUKUS submarines, combining the best technology from Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States to create the most advanced, lethal, and effective stealth submarines ever designed, all without being at war.”

Veterans Liaison/Aliya Health Group/Solving homelessness & addiction: one intrinsically valuable veteran at a time” 🇺🇸
Unmatched Underwater Dominance: USS Seawolf-Class Submarines In a world where stealth, speed, and firepower define supremacy, the USS Seawolf-class (SSN 21) submarines are unmatched. Renowned for their extraordinary quietness, these fast-moving giants boast eight torpedo tubes and can carry up to 50 weapons—making them a formidable force in undersea warfare. What truly sets the Seawolf apart? Their underwater speed of 35 knots (40 mph), placing them among the fastest attack submarines in the world, alongside Russia’s Akula and Sierra classes. Although lacking Vertical Launch Systems (VLS), the Seawolf-class submarines compensate with advanced sensors, superior agility, and exceptional offensive capabilities. These technological marvels continue to play a critical role in maintaining U.S. naval dominance beneath the waves. When innovation meets strategy, the results are powerful. Remember, some of the greatest advances happen where you can’t see them—deep beneath the ocean. #DefenseTech #Seawolf #Innovation #EngineeringMarvels #SubmarineWarfare #NavalPower #StealthTech

We spend a lot of time talking about #connectivity and ‘satcom’ in Defence right now. The Ukraine war has highlighted the need for ever more resilient #connectivity which can act as the foundation for complex operations and the rapid deployment of novel and emerging technologies. However, there is so much more to satcom than a satellite and a terminal. Check out 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼the paper we produced earlier this year in the run up to #CNE2024. Dynamic and elastic networks are going to be key to maintaining Defence’s competitive edge. 💪🏼Networks which can expand and contract as nodes join and leave. 💪🏼Networks which automatically switch bearer when one becomes jammed or overloaded. 💪🏼Networks that allow the rapid deployment of bespoke AI tools to defeat theatre specific threats. This stuff is more important now than it ever was…we need to get moving!
‘Connectivity is not just about the satellite or the platform, but the glue in the middle.’ 🛰️ At Combined Naval Event 2024 Nick Fuller FRAeS, Strategic Maritime Business Development at Airbus Defence and Space, shines the light on the unsung heroes of satellite connectivity, which are developed and manufactured in the UK. Check out our paper exploring our vision to achieve future-proof defence wide area networks, through the application of software defined networking: https://lnkd.in/er88Bh98 #Maritime #Connectivity #CNE2024 #DefenceLeaders #Satellite #Softwaredefined #Networking #SDWAN Defence Leaders
