If you know someone with a baby, chances are you know someone who at one point or another used or tried to use Early Intervention for proactive support in their child's development. Having more clinicians in this field is vital to getting new parents and families the support they need as early as possible, however clinicians can literally earn more money than they do in E.I. by working just about anywhere else - doing anything else. Every other industry and private organization has aligned increases with negotiations and changing circumstances - except Early Intervention. Do your small part to speak up for the tired families, educators, and clinicians fighting this fight.

We often hear that children are our future, so why can’t we seem to make significant, systemic investments in our nation’s kids? Together with our friends at Leading for Kids, we recently released a new set of resources dedicated to reframing how we think and talk about kids by broadening Americans’ understanding of care. Caring for children is often seen as the responsibility of certain designated individuals, but when we understand care in such an individualized way, it can be hard to recognize the role that every single person and every single system plays in ensuring the wellbeing of young people. By helping people think about care as collective, inclusive, and expansive, we can move the narrative in a more positive direction. Take a look at the resources: https://bit.ly/3wUcymg

Let's make an impact by providing all children and families with access to positive childhood experiences (PCEs). We can all make a difference! The HOPE framework focuses on the key types of PCEs we call the Four Building Blocks of HOPE that all children need to thrive and grow into healthy adults. Organizations, communities, and individuals can use HOPE to make meaningful changes to their practices, policies, and programming to ensure that all children have equitable access to PCEs. National Children's Bureau (NCB) and Research in Practice today are thrilled to announce a collaboration that strengthens their position as sector leaders with significant expertise and experience in developing practice and policy within social care, safeguarding, youth justice, special educational needs and disability (SEND) and health. From today, NCB becomes the new permanent home of Research in Practice, pooling capability and resource in systems-change methodology, research and evidence generation, and high-quality professional development to create a truly unique offer for our many partners and stakeholders. Research in Practice has nearly 30 years’ experience working with and for professionals in the social care, health, criminal justice and higher education sectors offering resources, learning opportunities and specialist expertise that enables people – children, young people, families, adults, carers and communities – to live good lives. There will be no disruption to project delivery, staffing, or the support provided to the Research in Practice Partner network as a result of it joining the NCB family. Bringing Research in Practice into the NCB family also widens NCB’s expertise in reaching and supporting adults, parents and carers, whose welfare directly impacts the lives of children and young people. NCB has a proud history of bringing together sector specialists, including the Council for Disabled Children, the Anti-Bullying Alliance and the Childhood Bereavement Network, into one family comprised of members with distinct identities and approaches but a united mission: to build better childhoods for every child. Bringing Research in Practice into the NCB family is a key element in delivering NCB’s ambitious new five-year strategy, United for a Better Childhood: Building Brighter Futures which will be published later in February, outlining new opportunities to have an even greater impact on the lives of babies, children and young people. Watch Anna, Chief Executive of NCB, and Dez, Director of Research in Practice, sharing their thoughts on this exciting news Read more about Research in Practice joining the NCB family at https://buff.ly/3SkMdEw
