Founder @ State of Digital Publishing (SODP) & SODP Media | SEO, Audience Development & Tech Publishing
The news on the latest Pedestrian Group licensed brand staff cuts has been the most resonating of all the cuts and the challenging environment we've been experiencing for the past year in Australia. It truly reflects the shrinking coverage of key technology and culture verticals for the up-and-coming Gen Z and Alpha generations. It doesn't help that they increasingly trust social media platforms for news & editorial coverage. Still, as an SEO & publisher, it's truly an underappreciated practice for advertisers to realise a value exchange for some parts of journalism to remain a viable business model and not 100% shortcuts through tech platforms. As I've mentioned time and time again, our clients and those we observe in the industry are always examples of how we can do better for our publication to be better for others ultimately. As an employer, I can also attest that running a pub business has been challenging in the past financial year. Still, the least I/we can do is to help find other doors that can lead to opportunities for those who can't currently work together because good karma does come around when you least expect it. Whether it is a simple chat, introduction internship, connection or other collab, please comment below, and we'll do our best to help!

A book can feel delighted when its readers read it through with the same interest from beginning to end. Similarly, the author derives satisfaction when readers judge it useful by sharing the review in similar lines. Perhaps this is the simplest way the creator and the creation can find out the purpose through the readers who can play the role of a brand ambassador. I am really feeling elated that my creation has reached overseas and in the trusted hand of my first summer intern Priyanka Basu. MBA, MS, PHR, PAHM . So here, my satisfaction is getting manifold as a mentor and I do hope like Priyanka, many more eminent readers will benefit from the book. Thanks to my first summer intern of the year 2011. (if I am not wrong). I take this opportunity to request all of you to read the book and you won't get disheartened that's for sure ! Public Service Announcement and Advisory for Fellow Businesses: At MnA Studios, we pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence, not only in the services we provide but also in the opportunities we offer through our internship programs. We believe in nurturing talent with respect, integrity, and professionalism. It has come to our attention that an individual has recently engaged in unprofessional conduct, failing to communicate respectfully with our HR team and resorting to inappropriate threats. While we are addressing this matter internally, we also want to share a word of advice with other startups and businesses that might encounter similar challenges. If your business faces such a situation, we recommend: 1. Approach the matter with a level head and maintain professionalism at all times. 2. Document all exchanges to have a clear record of the interactions. 3. Reiterate your company’s values and commitment to ethical practices. 4. Engage with the individual to resolve the issue amicably, if possible. 5. Consider consulting with legal professionals to understand your rights and responsibilities. To the broader business community, we urge you to stand firm in the face of unprofessionalism and to handle such instances with the decorum and respect that define us as professionals. Let us collectively maintain the standards that make our industry great. We appreciate your support and understanding.

As our intern spotlight series continues, we’re excited to introduce Lauren Spallone, an incoming senior studying marketing and analytics at Bloomsburg University. This summer, Lauren is interning with our Investor Relations team, bringing a unique blend of creativity and analytical expertise to our projects. Read on below to learn more about Lauren. 1. What is the best piece of professional advice you have ever received? The best piece of professional advice I have received is to be well-rounded in all aspects of a company. Knowing how a company works from all positions gives you a more comprehensive understanding and knowledge of how to succeed professionally. This is why I chose to pursue a marketing analytics degree to understand the creative and analytical side of marketing. 2. Can you recall a specific project or accomplishment that you're particularly proud of? What was your role in making it successful? In 2022, I was selected to represent Bloomsburg University in an International Business competition held in San Diego. Our team was tasked with developing a global expansion strategy for a business in 24 hours. Through this experience, I learned how to work under pressure, collaborate with team members, and present in front of a big audience. To this day I still use the skills I learned to approach challenges with confidence and navigate projects with colleagues. 3. If you could share some advice with your younger self, what would it be? I would tell my younger self to live in the moment and not worry about the future. It is easy to lose sight of the present when you focus on what the future will bring. I would reassure my younger self that as long as she works hard and stays positive, her future will work out the way she wants. 4. What is at the top of your bucket list? At the moment, I’m most passionate about backpacking through Southeast Asia for a couple of months. Exploring different cultures, meeting new people, and immersing myself in local experiences are why I find traveling so enriching. 5. If you could try something knowing you would not fail, what would it be? Knowing I would not fail, I would dedicate myself to learning as many languages as possible. Communicating fluently in different languages opens up the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in someone’s culture. #CenterSquare #SummerInternship #Spotlight

❓Why is the creative industry lacking young talents? ❗️Let’s have a look at my 15 year old sister‘s experience to understand why this problem is caused by the agencies themselves and not necessarily Gen Z. 🫶 On the picture you see my sister Hannah who is an aspiring Art Director. As part of her 10th grade in school she was doing an internship to gather first insights into her desired profession. 🫸 She designed a beautiful application and sent it to 10 agencies with offices in Berlin. Here are the stats of the replies she got: 5/10 do not offer school internships 2/10 didn’t even reply 1/10 didn’t have capacity for an intern 2/10 did offer her the internship 🤬 If this is the experience young talent encounters when they are actually interested to work in this industry, I’m not surprised they will not apply to agencies once they are looking for their first real job! I assume due to two main reasons: 1) After experiencing this amount of disinterest why would you believe agencies are actually interested to develop your capabilities and talent? 2) As most interns get rejected from agencies, they are looking into other industries and find a way to utilize their capabilities outside of the world of creative services. 🫵 So I feel that we, the creative companies, have to change our perception of investing in young talent. It is the future of our success and we all need new generations to power our creative output. In fact we surely also need to closely look at our business models as well, so we have the capacity to offer young talent the opportunity to enter this wonderful world of creativity. And we have to constantly remind our clients that a world changing idea can come from everybody in the team. Even a young talent with zero experience! 🫀Because without new generations, change inevidently will be very, very hard to achieve. And as #DavidOgilvy said rightly: „Change is our lifeblood“. 🫶Gladly there are positive rolemodels in our industry and Hannah was given the opportunity to learn and work alongside an incredible team at Philipp und Keuntje GmbH. From the first day she was over the moon, learned so much, was inspired, empowered and had a feeling of real belonging. ♥️Therefore a huge shoutout to fischerAppelt for building a company culture that let‘s people thrive and of course to Felix Wetzel, who mentored Hannah in her internship. You really made a difference in a career. And ultimately I’m incredibly proud of my sister, who fearlessly left her comfort zone far away from her home, connected with new people and learned that personal development is achieved by the pursuit of exploring the unknown. Well done Hannah! 👩🏻💻🙏

Our Academic Intern, Charlotte George, RDI, wrapped up her time with us a few weeks ago. She shared her thoughts on this experience with us below (and we were super flattered!) We can't thank her enough for the wonderful job she did during her time here. Please join us in giving her a big All Bodies, All Brides send-off as she goes out to make the fashion industry more accessible through future work!!! 🎉🧠 ♾️♿ From Charlotte: "Over the past month or so working with All Bodies, All Brides, as their academic intern I have learned a lot of lessons. Some lessons were, of course, harder to learn than others. I learned about a variety of disability topics, ranging from policies around the world to popular culture. I learned communication and deadlines with leadership, how to properly format a brochure to make the most sense, and overall branding. I got to use my graphic design, research, color theory, and advertising experiences to further the potential impact of the brand. What I loved the most about this summer internship is the creative freedom. I loved that some topics were more complex and some simpler. As a result, the writings for each week differed in length. As a poet on the side, concrete details and words felt natural for their addition, never forced. My manager, Katie Horan, continually challenged me to produce top-notch work in the kindest manner." - - - Image Description: post 1 is a selfie of Charlotte in a room. She is softly smiling with her mouth closed. She is a white woman with light brown and blonde hair wearing a sweater. There is pink text above reading "congratulations Charlotte!" Post 2 is all dark pink text on a light pink background, reading (see above) #ABAB #AcademicIntern #Internship #AllBodiesAllBrides #BridalDEI #FashionDEI #AccessibleFashion #BridalAccessibility
