We are looking at a 7% loss of refining capacity. That is a major dent in output and revenue for russia. For russia to implement the missile defense system will take time. The window to shut down further russian capacity is still wide open. Furthermore, russia’s distribution system is still wide open

THE BENEFIT OF TABOOS AND THE PROBLEM WITH THE NORDSTREAM UNDERSEA PIPELINE INCIDENT: For the most part, international taboos are a good thing. I am thinking of the almost eighty year taboo on the use of nuclear weapons. Such taboos provide stability and ensure that as long as they remain that states and nations do not have to fear or defend against them. Such a taboo existed with regards to undersea cables and pipelines. A tremendous amount of the worlds information rides on undersea fiber-optic cables and gas and oil through undersea pipelines. Because of the nature of such piplelines and the difficulty of defending them, the taboo provided an important international stability regime. However, when the NORDSTREAM pipelines were attacked early in the War in Ukraine, this taboo ended abruptly and now nations and private companies are beginning to awaken to a new day when their extremely vulnerably undersea cables and piplines are at risk from attack. 'As nearby populations have grown, so have energy needs, and so have the number and size of the turbines. It’s a boon for farmers and landowners, who can lease space on their lands to support both the military needs and wind power companies. 'But the growth is making it dangerous for military helicopter crews. When an alarm triggers at a site [nuke silo], the UH-1 Huey crews fly in low and fast, often with security teams on board. 'So the Air Force is asking Congress to pass legislation to create a 2-nautical-mile buffer zone around each site. The legislation has the support of wind energy advocates, but they caution against a one-size-fits-all approach. Israel shuts its largest gas field over military tension with Palestinian militia group, Hamas. The Chevron-operated Tamar gas platform located some 25 kilometres off Israel's southern region can be sighted from the Gaza Strip on a clear day, hence a potential target of rocket fire for the militia. If the force majeure on gas production lingers for long, Israel would be compelled to source gas outside of the region. Why then are the Australian Government and the Federal Opposition not working to get it developed in Australia and bring it back home? New Zealand has, so why not Australia? Is Dutton doing a Menzies and wanting a loophole to get fission (Nuclear) weapons to start with for the subs? 9. Australia still has no high-level radiation waste storage facility 10. Helion Fusion has committed to having its fusion version working in 2028 11. The FIA (Fusion Industry Association) has postulated that commercial power fusion will be available in the 2030s. 12. In its fusion conference report in 2023, the IAEA postulated that all International nuclear (Fission) Laws like the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty do not consider fusion, so it seems it can be built in Australia now. 13. Fusion is also being developed "Small Modular Fusion Reactors" like Zap Energy and Avalanche Energy. 14. HB11 and the UNSW Tokamak project have positioned Australia prominently in the trillion-dollar international fusion industry. Instead of relying on fission with a limited lifetime, wouldn't it be preferable to support Australian renewables, batteries, and hydrogen energy generators and back them up with a fusion power plant? This would eliminate the traditional waste problem while still providing medical isotopes and advancements in medical technology like MRIs. Let's focus on creating a sustainable future for Australia instead of perpetuating pollution and leading to an energy crisis. https://lnkd.in/ekakyifA
