Large-scale, annual surveys like the Youth Risk Behavior Survey are vital to helping us understand how adolescents are faring. While raising awareness is a crucial step, the real impact lies in how we utilize that awareness to drive change. Research is indispensable for a nuanced understanding of various mental health conditions and their effective treatments. It enhances care delivery, accelerates diagnoses, and crucially, offers better treatments and interventions to the 1 in 4 individuals affected by mental illness. At MQ, 63% of our studies have successfully amplified public awareness about diverse mental health conditions. More significantly, 48% have paved the way for the development of new treatments, and 40% have instigated changes in practice. We know that younger generations are facing huge challenges. Our latest youth research report reveals: ▪️ 1/3 young people are experiencing moderate to severe depression and/or anxiety ▪️ More than half of them have not yet spoken to a professional The main reasons for not seeking help were: ▪️ They are too embarrassed (43%) ▪️ They don't think it's serious enough (41%) Nicole Main, UK and Europe Clinical Lead at Wysa says: "Despite this generation living in a society that is more open with mental health challenges, a large number appear to be reluctant to reach out for help. If we don't want a population growing up with severe mental health issues, we need to find alternative ways for them to seek support.” 🔗 Access the research report for further insights: https://buff.ly/3KNHkzR #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek #YouthMentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #Research #Report
