What’s going on with #Ubisoft? ❓ The pioneering company in the world of video games announced the delay of the new Assassin’s Creed Shadows to 2025. Why? #StarWarsOutlaws was released in September by the company waiting to be a success. Unfortunately, it has sold 1 million copies in a month, being a sales failure. Looking back, Assassin’s Creed Mirage sold 5 million copies three months after had hit de market this same year. 📈 Ubisoft has been focusing its efforts toward making more sequels of #AssassinsCreed repeating the same formula all over again through the years, forgetting the long term strategy. #MarketingMyopia 🔎 This delay of the last release of Assassin’s Creed has not an only answer. The low Punctuation on #Metacritic and the enormous expense that this last release has supposed for Ubisoft make them enforce aspects as historical and cultural environment, even changing parts of Yasuke’s history and his representation. Reports says even the developers told several times that the release date was too early. How will it end?🧐 #MarketingMyopia #Videogames #AssassinsCreed #Ubisoft

Where do I start?..... This game is Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry. It was an awesome standalone game that was a spin on Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, and as a storyline game enthusiast, I couldn't wait to play it. The biggest reason was that it would be set in #Haiti, and feature my heritage. I was stoked! I got into the game and it was a visual historical masterpiece, and the gameplay was even better! HOWEVER! I was turned off by it when I heard the language of the locals. WHAT LANGUAGE WAS THAT?! It was not #Haitian Kreyol, not even a variation of it. Now, I understand if there was some of the old African language used but Ubisoft Ubisoft Montréal Ubisoft India Studios consulted a "cultural team" that gave you something lackluster. For this exact reason, I started 8th & Rolle Media, to make sure that Film, Video Games, and other media outlets highlight the language and culture of Haiti and Haitian Creole accurately. We specialize in helping tell the stories in the way it should be told. Big fan @Ubisoft, but I have to be honest. Love your games, let's work together to not repeat this mistake. Interesting insights about the masterbrand creation of Anno. More to unveil soon.
“There are so many different places that you can be inspired from - a lot of those shouldn’t exist solely on a screen, they should come from the real world and come from real life craft.” We immersed ourselves in tactile experiences throughout our recent partnership with Ubisoft to build the new Anno masterbrand. We delved into Roman history and had so much fun with Gate Foot Forge creating the new symbol from scratch using raw materials. Meticulous in detail and crafted with care, the new identity reflects the game’s ethos, community and creators, and we couldn’t be more proud of the result. Take a peek at the behind the scenes process. 👇 Wayne Deakin⚡️ Andy Khatouli Joe Waterfield Jamilya Kulambayeva Haye Anderson #Ubisoft #Gaming #Design

**NEW EPISODE IS LIVE*** Episode 180: Ubisoft in Freefall (News Show) Ubisoft has been under fire since a failed hostile takeover attempt in 2018. Since then, a toxic culture of misogyny and harassment was revealed in 2020 leading to an exodus of talent and a string of underperforming releases. Now, a critical game delay, a board review of operations, and a looming strike in France have tanked the share price as the company is fending off an activist investor bent on forcing the company to eject the Guillemot family and take private equity to save the ailing publisher. Also: Another very bad time for labor, another story reveals a power struggle inside Annapurna, and Behaviour acquires a new studio just one week after shutting another down. https://lnkd.in/eDC8sHwa

Hello :) I wanted to #share some thoughts again Recently, Ubisoft came under fire regarding a new #starwars video game. They invited #contentcreators out to Disney land, gave them food, hotels, etc. People were quick to point out that the #press has integrity rules for a reason.. They don't accept gifts or other things when reporting on a company or product because then they will be viewed as "being payed for". People are debating that I think it is fair to compare the rules of the press to content creators because most reviews that people read these days are from content creators. Gamers Nexus for example is the go to review source for PC related products By this logic, I would go as far as saying that any Creator who accepted Ubisoft's "gift" has made their review of this new game invalid If people debate that then I would respond with Ubisoft's history. Ubisoft like EA Games does not have a great reputation overall. I am honestly surprised that when Disney pulled EA's star wars license and gave it to others, that they would pick Ubisoft as one of them To be clear.. I am only speaking of history and not blaming anyone. I understand that at any company, it is usually the higher ups that are the problem. Not the workers. The workers pour their heart and soul in these projects only for the higher ups to ruin it (sometimes) That is just my take as always

Ubisoft goes to put out a product that completely thumbs its nose at #Japanese history and culture, claiming it is "historic". Players watch the videos, learn about the nonsense, and revolt, making videos mocking #Ubisoft for creating a nonsense version of revisionist history. Ubisoft claims that the players are racist because they have an African main character. One user on YouTube points out: They're using family crests they have to right to use They're using images of religious icons they have no right to use. Their time periods are all mixed up vis-a-vis armor and the like They're mixing #Japanese and #Chinese history and culture. They're misusing Shinto religious iconography Their game engine being used in the trailer videos contain numerous errors, such as floating assets, doors that hang in midair, bullets that hang in midair, changes from one scene to the next that don't match up, player sprites that meld into enemy sprites and more, able to make a 21(!) minute video covering all the mistakes in a 3:49 minute trailer Ubisoft now says that they're Appalled (per Stevy Chassard here on LinkedIn) that players are backlashing so hard against a company that does not obviously care about culture or history. They also now claim it's a "#fantasy" game, not historical. They're blaming people for wanting a good, stable, well-researched #game. This has been so badly mishandled that there are rumors of Ubi having to look to Tencent for a buyout because they're failing so badly at the one thing they were supposed to do well. And they're blaming the #gamers. Don't do this. If you mess up as a company, swallow your pride, take the hit, fix the issue and MAYBE salvage your reputation OR stick to your guns and go down in a ball of flames. Stop blaming the CUSTOMER for not buying your product when YOU are the one who should make sure it's appealing to them. #games #gaming #Ubisoft #AssassinsCreedShadows #failure #business

Metroidvania games have been around for decades, and their enduring popularity rests on a magical mix of satisfying platforming, interconnected levels, and non-linear exploration. Nothing beats the satisfaction of defeating a hard boss or reaching a level you couldn’t access before. But the interconnectivity and skills progression also make it a particularly challenging genre for devs to nail. Mission accomplished for the teams in Ubisoft Montpellier, Ubisoft Romania, Ubisoft Ukraine Studios, Ubisoft India Studios who succeeded in bringing together Metroidvania mechanics with the legendary world and gameplay of The Prince or Persia, and introduce some new features to make the genre more accessible. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown should delight fans and newcomers alike!
