The Hughes Center in Danville, VA, recently had an “Under the Sea” themed week. In addition to the aquatic-themed lessons and crafts, students and staff took a special field trip to SeaQuest in Lynchburg. Attendees had fun interacting with the different animals and sea life they have been learning about all week. #ThisIsUHS #UHSis45

I hope that #independentschools in the area are aware and supporting their BIPOC faculty and staff to attend. I have been fortunate to work with the other #conveners and #hosts trained under #nais staff, Caroline Grace Blackwell and Tony Hernandez, M. Ed. as well as Anita Sanchez, Ph.D. Diversity-Equity-Inclusion-Culture and her team. This year is reclaiming the conference from 2020’s cancellation. If you are a #schoolleader in the area, find a way to make the budget work. Budgets identify a school’s priorities. Are you spending money to retain these community members? Or, do you find yourself constantly re-recruiting? How about your #dei positions? What is that tenure for your school? Those leaders carry a double load in our educational institutions. These BIPOC educators spend the rest of the year pouring into their communities, so pour into them.
Are you ready for this year’s NAIS People of Color Conference (PoCC), November 29–December 2, in St. Louis? Don’t miss your chance to experience PoCC while taking advantage of early bird pricing. Register by October 31 to save. https://bit.ly/3RMc89m #NAISPoCC #Transformation #Indyschools #SafeSpace #DEI

Here at Non-Academic, developing thought leadership is close to our hearts. We, therefore, ask our participants to bring a unique thought every week. But sometimes our participants struggle to find unique thoughts, so we also teach them how to spot and develop unique thoughts with the help of our "Perspective Building" workshop. In this thought-provoking video, Aishi sheds light on a common yet often overlooked issue - unintentional inappropriate feeding of wildlife. She advocates for a practical solution to this problem by introducing a mobile feature that empowers wildlife enthusiasts to make informed choices when offering food to animals. This innovative approach not only promotes responsible wildlife interactions but also contributes to the preservation of natural ecosystems. https://lnkd.in/eX3ujkGG

"We all know what alligators do during the summer and spring... but what do they do in the winter, and how do they survive?" Check out this fascinating video from our very own Gary Saurage, host of EarthxTV's Texas Gator Savers!
A Texas alligator was found alive with a barely beating heart in a frozen pond. This is how it survived.

The waters encompassing mangrove forests are a hub of activity, acting as a safe haven and aqua-nursery for many marine creatures in their infancy. The colossal, curious, and critically endangered goliath grouper fish are one of these, first found dwelling in mangrove shallows for up to six years, before graduating their early years education to explore waters further afield https://lnkd.in/enUSpmba

My champs were arguing over this sentence "Does slow and steady truly win the race?" Lolu 1 loves using it a lot , but Lolu 2 thinks it can make you lose things because he believes in "sharp, sharp things" He calls himself the "fastest guy in the world"🤣 Hmm, and I was asked to decide for them. So, I asked them to defend their points. Lolu 1: We should not be too hasty to get things because some things take time. Lolu 2 explained using the cheetah. He said, "The Cheetah is supposed to be the fastest animal in the world, and if he doesn't use his gift, he will never eat or escape from predators." "So he has to be fast." Then Lolu 1 further explained: "Yes, that is true, but sometimes, if you are always fast , you can get tired," And Lolu 2 agreed with him "Hmm, I guess that is why the Cheetah sometimes slows down to watch a prey before attacking." "So I agree sometimes we have to be fast and sometimes we have to be slow." The next question from them was "So when do you know when to be slow or when to be fast?" You just remember the Cheetah's story that you explained! Sometimes, life can be confusing, and it is key to know when to draw the balance. And we can only draw the balance from knowing God's plans and obedience to his plans for us. Eccl 9: 11
