This year, we once again have the pleasure of supporting the European Union in the organisation of the 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 (𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦) that takes place today in Brussels. 💡 The Forum brings together senior decision-makers from more than 60 partner countries, EU Member States, high-level representatives of the European Union (EU), international and regional organisations, as well as leading think-tanks and academia. 💡 Over two days (28 and 29 May), the Forum aims at shedding light on how ongoing and potential peace, security and defence partnerships can respond to the most pressing security threats and challenges and contribute to global peace and security as well as uphold the international rules-based order and multilateralism. #SchumanForum #Peace #Security #GlobalChallenges #EuropeanUnion

Security Politics, an intersection of national and international security issues with political processes and considerations, is a complex field that examines how security concerns influence political decisions and the implications for both domestic and global stability. Various aspects of this are: 1) Policy Making related to balancing national interests with international obligations; 2) International Relations related to the role of security in diplomatic relations, alliances, and conflicts between states; 3) Terrorism and Counterterrorism related to political response; 4) Defense Spending related to the political debates surrounding national defense; 5) Human Rights related to the impact leading to political controversy; and 6) Cybersecurity related to the politics of protecting national infrastructure from cyber threats and the implications for privacy and surveillance. On January 13, Taiwan will choose a new president to replace the Democratic People's Party Tsai Ing-Wen, who is stepping down after 8 years in power. The next Taiwanese president will continue to face an assertive China across military, espionage, and economic domains. Cross-Strait relations are a political cleavage in the elections, but they are conditioned by the rising cost of living and policy areas.
