💡 Private investors often do not know what they are investing in and what the corresponding risk. Professional investors know the risks, have their criteria, conditions and therefore it takes a lot of trust, etc. for an investment to take place at all. 👨💻 Stefan Sollberger is the CFO Swiss Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands (SCCN) and the CEO of Sollberger KMU Treuhand. He has an extensive number of years of experience and expertise as a Partner, Advisor, Mentor and Investor. 🎧 English Translation: "What is the difference between private investors and professional investors? Private investors often do not know what they are investing in and what the corresponding risk is and are persuaded by so-called equity advisors to make high-risk investments, because they are contacted by phone every week with the statement that this is now the next big thing and that they will go public in two years (of course with a value in the billions). Unfortunately, many of these companies do not go public after two years, but go bankrupt with a total loss, which can have fatal consequences for these people, because surprisingly they did not expect such a failure. All arithmetic or what... Professional investors know the risks, are repeat offenders, i.e. invest again and again, but have their criteria, conditions and therefore it takes a lot of trust, etc. for an investment to take place at all. Many startup entrepreneurs don't understand this. Of course, one could also argue here that people who invest solely on the basis of a phone call are also a bit stupid. Had the privilege of speaking at IBA’s #entrepreneurconnect on the role of angel investors in cultivating entrepreneurship among students. The discussion was thought-provoking, and I shared a few points I believe are vital for both aspiring entrepreneurs and angel investors: - Angel investment is more than just a check. True angel investors commit their time, energy, and effort to help entrepreneurs transform ideas into opportunities and, eventually, into sustainable enterprises. - Entrepreneurs must have skin in the game and a deep passion for the problems they aim to solve. Entrepreneurship demands grit and unwavering belief. Angel investors play a crucial role in ensuring founders don’t give up, especially during the toughest times. - There’s a fine line between being an angel investor and a predator. It’s a boundary that should never be crossed. The panel discussion was animated yet engaging, thanks to my fellow panelists Nadeem Shaikh, Darakhshan Sheikh Vohra, Amin 🚀, Sennen Desouza and our moderator Mohammad Sohaib Saleem who asked some intriguing and thought provoking questions. Special thanks to Dr Lalarukh Ejaz, Nimra Kamran, Jawwad Farid and dr. S Akbar Zaidi. #angelinvestors #entrepreneurshipisforeveryone, Institute of Business Administration, IBA - CED (Center for Entrepreneurial Development)

💡 The idea of investment diversification: you don't put all your money into one investment, so as to minimize your losses when they do occur. 🎧 English Translation: "Not all the eggs in one basket and the clucking chickens! If you want to transport eggs, never put all the eggs in one basket – if it falls down, all the eggs are gone (all fried eggs or whatever). That's the idea of diversification: you don't put all your money into one investment, only to see all your money lost when that investment goes down the drain. So you should distribute the money in such a way that the risks to which the funds are exposed have as little to do with each other as possible. For example, if you put half of your money into an umbrella factory and the other half into a sunscreen manufacturer, then half of your money is always safe – rain or shine, including a rainbow.
