❗️ The situation in the hydropower sector as of 24 January ❗️ 🌊⚡️ Ukrhydroenergo's stations are operating normally. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre, due to ice formation and ice melt against high water content, water levels continue to rise in the Upper Dnipro and Desna rivers (Kyiv and Chernihiv regions). This high inflow is not typical for winter, as it was last year. However, it has a positive impact on the operation of hydroelectric power generation. 🌊⚡️ The repair campaign at HPPs and PSPPs continues according to the schedule. In addition to major and routine repairs, work continues on projects to strengthen the physical security of hydroelectric power plants. Situation in the hydropower sector as of 3 January 🌊⚡️ Hydropower plants continue to provide the power system with balancing and emergency reserves during peak electricity consumption. There are 84 hydroelectric units in operation. 🌊⚡️ The company continues the repair campaign and the programme to restore critical infrastructure equipment. 🌊⚡️На branches are prepared to deploy "Islands of Heat and Light" (heating points) if necessary. The general situation in the power system: 💡In Kyiv and the region, power supply has been restored to household consumers who were cut off due to massive shelling on 2 January. 💡Despite the drop in temperature, there is no electricity shortage in the system. The situation in the hydropower sector as of 2 February: 🌊⚡️ Ukrhydroenergo's HPPs and PSPPs continue the repair campaign according to the approved schedule and are actively preparing for the spring floods. 🌊⚡️ Due to the warming, the electricity generation by hydroelectric power plants has decreased. 🌊⚡️ Like the rest of the generation sector, hydropower has completed more than half of the heating season and has already started preparing for the next one. 💡 There is no deficit in the power system. However, it is important not to overload it, especially during peak consumption hours (10:00 to 12:00 and 16:00 to 19:00). Wider #hydropower supply margins should keep pressure on European power prices over the rest of the second quarter, with power generation in #France, #Italy and #Spain as well as #Balkan countries particularly sustained by water stocks flipping above the five-year average over recent weeks. This was mainly linked to late but abundant snowfalls compared to past winters, while warmer temperatures in early April also sparked an early snowmelt and supported water stocks refills in the regions. #Nordic hydropower generation and water reservoirs were still lower than in past year but also moved slightly closer to the five-year average recently.
