Ukrhydroenergo’s Supervisory Board demonstrates leadership in implementing corporate reform Today, the Supervisory Board of Ukrhydroenergo held a meeting to discuss strategically important issues related to implementing the new provisions of Law of Ukraine No. 3587-IX on corporate governance. For the first time, the budget process for 2025 is being carried out by the new legislative provisions, according to which financial and strategic plans are now approved directly by the Supervisory Board, not the shareholder. The meeting reviewed certain financial indicators for 2025, including profitability, liquidity and the amount of payments to the state. These indicators will form the basis for further consultations with the Ministry of Economy and will be considered when preparing the owner’s letter of expectations. This will allow the Supervisory Board to effectively monitor the implementation of the company’s short- and medium-term goals. “We continue to implement new requirements of corporate reform, which makes it possible to strengthen the role of supervisory boards in the management of state-owned enterprises. Our work is aimed at timely planning and ensuring the company’s sustainable development in 2025. Ukrhydroenergo has already adapted its charter to the new norms, which will be an important precedent for other state-owned enterprises in the process of preparing their documents,” said Valentyn Gvozdiy (Валентин Гвоздій) Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrhydroenergo. The meeting also included meetings of the Strategy and Sustainability and Audit Committees. The participants discussed the key indicators and priorities of the company’s activities for 2025, which will be an important step towards enhancing management efficiency and increasing the resilience of the energy infrastructure under martial law. Ukrhydroenergo continues to work on implementing corporate governance reform, remaining a reliable partner of the state in ensuring a stable energy supply and development of the country’s critical infrastructure. #Ukrhydroenergo #SupervisoryBoard #energy #news #infrastructure #development #corporatereform

Ukrhydroenergo has made the decision to cancel its previously announced tender for legal services in the arbitration case concerning the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP). This decision was made to ensure that the company's actions align with the broader national strategy of Ukraine. The strategy focuses on holding the aggressor state accountable for the damage inflicted on critical infrastructure and ensuring compensation for the destruction caused. In this context, additional consultations will be held with the government and other key stakeholders to determine the most appropriate course of action in line with the national approach, which is being coordinated in partnership with Ukraine's international allies. To recall, on August 15, 2024, Ukrhydroenergo announced a tender for legal services aimed at securing legal representation to seek compensation for the investment losses caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP, which was blown up by Russian occupation forces in June last year. The company remains committed to pursuing full compensation for all damages caused by the war, which include not only the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP but also more than 140 missile strikes on other company assets. We will continue to work closely with the relevant stakeholders and will keep all interested parties informed of our next steps in this critical process. #Ukrhydroenergo #HPP #KahovkaHPP #news #Ukraine #tender

Valentyn Gvozdiy: Ukrhydroenergo suffered more than 140 Russian missile strikes, the occupiers blew up Kakhovka HPP This was announced by Valentyn Gvozdiy, (Валентин Гвоздій) Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrhydroenergo, during a meeting of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Committee, which was dedicated to the topic “The importance of capacity building and risk-based decision-making to strengthen disaster risk prevention and management” The destruction of the Kakhovka HPP resulted in the loss of 335 MW of renewable energy capacity and a deterioration in the water supply in the region. In particular, 94% of irrigation systems in the Kherson region, 74% in the Zaporizhzhia region and 30% in the Dnipro region were lost. The total loss amounts to 18 billion cubic metres of water, equivalent to two years of water supply for Ukraine. Valentyn Gvozdiy also noted that the total damage from the missile strikes exceeds several billion dollars. Despite this large-scale destruction, Ukrhydroenergo continues to ensure the stability of the Ukrainian power system. Gvozdiy stressed the importance of protecting energy facilities in times of war. He explained that the company is forced to change its development plans and focus on strengthening infrastructure security, using the experience of South Korea and Japan, which also faced aggression from neighbouring countries. “We are doing everything possible to protect our facilities, and this experience will be invaluable in the future”, he concluded.

Leadership in аction: Ukrhydroenergo first to obtain guarantees of origin for electricity from renewable energy sources in Ukraine This decision not only opens new opportunities for the development of the company but also underscores the importance of environmental responsibility in the context of European integration. The regulator issued the first guarantees of origin for electricity to Ukrhydroenergo, totaling 96,441 MWh, demonstrating the company's commitment to sustainable development and reducing its carbon footprint. In August of this year, Ukrhydroenergo became one of the first companies to meet all requirements and complete the necessary procedures to obtain its own account in the Guarantees of Origin Registry, achieving user status. By September, the company actively participated in test auctions for the sale of guarantees of origin for electricity. The confirmation of electricity production from renewable sources opens new opportunities for Ukrhydroenergo and potential buyers of electricity generated by hydropower plants. Specifically, companies that prefer clean energy will be able to anticipate benefits and incentives from the government and international organizations, including tax reductions or participation in programs supporting "green" technologies, making collaboration with Ukrhydroenergo even more attractive. It is important to note that specialists in the company’s commercial division played a crucial role in developing the necessary documentation to obtain these guarantees, which will facilitate the company’s strategic development and accelerate its integration into the clean energy market. The confirmation of electricity production from renewable sources is significant not only for the development of green energy but also for complying with modern EU environmental standards. By implementing this initiative, Ukrhydroenergo demonstrates its readiness to actively engage in global efforts to combat climate change and strengthen the country’s energy security. #Ukrhydroenergo #GreenEnergy #SustainableDevelopment #RenewableEnergy

Ukrhydroenergo strengthens the country's energy security and contributes to the country's green transition during the war Hydropower remains a critical component of Ukraine's energy system in times of war, playing a strategic role in maintaining the stability of the energy supply. This was stated by Dr. Valentyn Gvozdiy Gvozdiy, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrhydroenergo, in an online address to the participants of the Global Renewables Summit (Global Renewables Alliance) held in New York. The Chairman of the Supervisory Board noted that over the past two and a half years, Ukrhydroenergo's plants have suffered more than 140 missile strikes. Despite losing 40% of hydroelectric generation capacity, HPPs and PSPPs continue to provide Ukraine's power system with balancing capacities, especially during autumn and winter.  At the same time, power engineers are working around the clock to restore damaged facilities because of numerous missile and drone attacks on the plants. In addition to strengthening energy security, Ukrhydroenergo significantly contributes to the fight against climate change. In recent years, the company's hydroelectric power plants have contributed to reducing CO2 emissions and brought Ukraine closer to meeting its international climate commitments. Valentyn Gvozdiy stressed the importance of sustainable development, noting that further investment in renewable energy sources will help Ukraine strengthen its position on the international stage.  ‘Ukrhydroenergo is actively working with international financial institutions, including the World Bank, the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The company focuses on introducing innovations, such as green hydrogen production and developing hybrid energy systems. Despite the challenges faced during the war, Ukrhydroenergo continues to strengthen the country's energy security and implements projects that will contribute to Ukraine's transition to clean energy,' summed up Valentyn Gvozdiy. #globalrenewablesummit #energy #hydropower #environment #ecology #renewables #greenhydrogen #HPP #PSPP #hybridsystems #energysecurity #greenenergy #Ukrhydroenergo

Representatives of the Embassy of the Netherlands Discuss Potential Cooperation with Ukrhydroenergo Recently, Kees Cath, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine, and Bram Romijn, Climate and Energy Attaché of the Embassy, made their inaugural working visit to Ukrhydroenergo. Key topics of discussion included plans to expand hydroelectric generating capacities, implement innovative projects, Ukrhydroenergo's role in the electricity market, and the company's legal claims in international courts for compensation for damages caused by russian aggression. “We have a development strategy, but we also face significant challenges in restoring lost capacities and protecting our facilities and employees from enemy attacks. Restoration must be considered in two aspects: the restoration of generating capacities in general and restoration according to design solutions,” said Ihor Syrota, CEO of Ukrhydroenergo, during the meeting. The discussions emphasized maintaining the stability of Ukraine's energy system. Embassy representatives and Ukrainian power engineers exchanged insights on the realities of the hydropower industry and Ukrhydroenergo's stations, the company’s commercial activities in all segments of the electricity market, and the development of innovative projects, including energy storage construction. Another significant topic was Ukrhydroenergo's claims against the Russian Federation for crimes against Ukraine’s energy sector. Notably, the discussion covered the legal services procurement announced on 15 August for representation in international arbitration to seek compensation for the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP, which was blown up by russian occupation forces in June last year. The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to identifying shared areas of interest and exploring potential projects for future cooperation. As part of ongoing Ukrainian-Dutch collaboration, in June 2024, Ukrhydroenergo experts successfully conducted the first technical mission in partnership with the Dutch Water Platform to enhance water management. #Netherlands #Ukraine #Ukrhydroenergo #HPP #KakhovkaHPP #project
