"A playbook is a high-level overview of a company or team’s strategy with a detailed blueprint on how to carry out a specific task. To us, the most important task at hand is steering the development of Refshaleøen within social and planetary boundaries, while future-proofing the business of Refshaleøen Ejendomsselskab and By og Havn. In today’s rapidly changing world, rife with climate change, social inequality, and upcoming regulatory frameworks, this is indeed a complex task. We believe the key to simplifying this complexity and turning challenge into opportunity is to embrace a planet, people-first approach." "The Playbook", a project that exemplifies how it's possible to transform planetary and social boundaries into practical applications for urban development. The Playbook serves as a guide, demonstrating how theoretical principles can be effectively operationalized in real-world urban planning. The aim of this project is to bridge the gap between mitigation and adaptation, showing that it is possible to harmonize urban development with the Earth's limits and social needs. Refshaleøens Ejendomsselskab and Udviklingsselskabet By & Havn have honored this project with a main prize in the open category as part of their Open Ideas Competition, and the jury “has discussed the proposals radicality in relation to introducing the method as a starting point for further work with Refshaleøen.” With this project we aim to encourage a wider embrace of planetary and social boundaries in design, hoping to inspire a future where such considerations are central to our collective approach for urban development. Katharina Johanna Oetken is working on her PhD at the Real Estate Management Institute at EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht.  She has just published a paper on co-creation dynamics in urban design, together with three other authors. We were a major part of the research with our co-creative idea mastery concept. The results of the study have now been published in the Urban Design Journal. They encourage us to further apply and deepen our own processes and methods for co-creation, based on our Socialtecture principles.
