Nordex has sealed a 253MW turbine order from developer UKA for a series of projects across Germany. The deal covers the supply of 39 N149/5.X, N163/5.X and N163/6.X machines, with Nordex Group taking over the premium service of the hardware for 20 years. The units will be installed in 2025 in the federal states of Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg. Including the orders now placed, UKA has ordered 450MW of #turbines from Nordex in the last three months. “After our success in the February tender for #onshorewind, this is further proof that project implementation is increasingly coming back into focus at UKA,” said managing partner Gernot Gauglitz. “The #energytransition has noticeably gained momentum in #Germany. UKA will continue to play a central role in Germany’s climate-friendly, affordable and independent electricity supply in the future. Nordex is a strong partner for us in this regard.” It was not until mid-March 2024 that UKA reported a major success in the Federal Network Agency’s “Wind on Land” tender round in February. Almost 18% (321.1MW) of the awarded #projects belong to the group’s #portfolio. The success of the “Wind on Land” tender creates the economic framework for project implementation within the framework of the #RenewableEnergy Sources Act. On the procurement side, UKA had already laid the foundations in November 2023 to put more focus back on project implementation, said the developer. An existing framework contract with the Nordex Group has been extended. Further substantial orders are planned for 2024. “Once again, UKA has opted for our technology. We are very happy about that,” said Nordex’s vice president region central Karsten Brüggemann. “On the basis of the framework agreement, a trusting and constructive partnership has developed, which we value very much and want to expand further. “With the new projects, we can once again make a good deal of progress in the #energy transition in Germany together with UKA.” https://lnkd.in/eCmUc2Cg

Nordex Group is once again ranked number 1 among turbine manufacturers in Germany in the 2023 BWE Service Survey - for the third year in a row! "We were very excited at the end of the year, as we were not sure whether this could ultimately translate into our earnings and lead to a lower grade compared to previous years due to the high number of new projects and the associated additional burden that we had therefore on Service. However, the opposite is the case: We were able to improve a lot - especially in terms of quality - and have once again become the winner of the service survey! Our biggest competitors, on the other hand, are showing a negative trend. But the most important thing is that we have improved our earnings and are thus able to strengthen our position in the market," explains Volker Bartolles, Head of Service Germany at the Nordex Group. Background: Every year, the German Wind Energy Association (BWE) conducts a survey on Service among its members. The three topics - "Regular maintenance work", "Unscheduled overhaul or repair" and "Extraordinary services" - are queried and evaluated with a weighting of 33 percent each by operators of turbines from the main western manufacturers, based on 12 questions. In the overall evaluation, the Nordex Group once again took the top spot with 2.35 points (2022: 2.60) (1 = excellent, 6 = unsatisfactory), once again ahead of all other manufacturers and, for the first time, all independent service providers. The average of all manufacturers is a smooth "satisfactory" with 3.03 points. It should be noted that the “quality of the work carried out” (1.89) and the “accessibility of the Service teams for unscheduled repairs” (1.81), but also the “quality of the work carried out during regular maintenance work” (2.08), were rated best by our customers. Only in the "Speed of reinstatement of other parts" we did fall marginally back to 2.51 points (2022: 2.39), otherwise Nordex was able to improve across the board in all the other eleven areas. China's Dajin Heavy Industry Co.,Ltd has started the manufacturing of the foundations for RWE's Nordseecluster A, the first phase of the 1.6 GW Nordseecluster project being built in the German North Sea. The project, featuring a TP-Less structure, has entered the production stage after its initial cutting ceremony held at the Dajin Penglai facility on 28 May. The Nordseecluster is being implemented in two phases, the 660 MW Nordseecluster A and the 900 MW Nordseecluster B, each comprising two offshore wind farms. RWE, the developer of the project, selected Dajin Heavy Industry Co.,Ltd to supply 104 foundations for the 1.6 GW Nordseecluster. Of the 104 foundations in total, 44 are reserved for this initial stage. The foundations will be installed by Van Oord's brand-new offshore installation vessel Boreas, currently being built by Yantai CIMC Raffles Shipyard (YCRO) in China. The TP-Less monopiles will support Vestas' V236-15.0 MW wind turbines, which will be installed by Havfram Wind, using its installation vessels Norse Wind and Norse Energi. By the beginning of 2027, all 44 wind turbines of the Nordseecluster A are planned to be connected to the grid. The 60 turbines of Nordseecluster B are scheduled to start commercial operation from the beginning of 2029. Combilift launches turbine component carrier Specialist materials handling equipment manufacturer Combilift has entered the offshore wind energy sector with a new product to move wind turbine components. The Combilift Combi-LC (load carrier) is a pair of independent wheeled drive units with load platforms and adaptors. Combi-LC is designed at Combilift headquarters and factory in Monaghan, Ireland, in collaboration with wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa. It can carry wind turbine blades and tower sections, moving them around the factory or port storage area. Blades now reach 115 metres long and weigh around 70 tonnes. The staging or storage area in port can be up to 5 km from the load out point on the quay. The two remote-controlled units are designed to offer a low loading or deck height. They can be operated in tandem master and slave operation. Custom options include dimensions and wheel configurations according to the load type and weight. Siemens Gamesa is the first customer, “signing a multi-million order for a number of the bespoke Load Carriers,” the company said. Combilift said it forecasts more than €50 million annual revenue in this segment by 2026. Josh Moffett, Combilift heavy equipment manager, said, “We are thrilled to have launched this new product – The Combi-LC, and we hope it will act as a gateway for us to further progress within our venture into the wind energy sector. The scale of offshore wind projects around the world leads to a unique set of challenges, one of which being the ability to transport the very large components that make up a wind turbine. We recognised this and used our expertise in load handling to develop a solution to support those in the industry. UK Awards Nordex Group Contracts for Approximately 150 MW In December 2023, the Nordex Group secured three orders totaling 150 MW from undisclosed clients in Scotland. The projects involve the installation of N149/5.X and N133/4.8 turbines, with each wind farm set to feature these cutting-edge technologies. The customers’ identities and wind farm names remain confidential. Scheduled for construction in 2026, all three wind farms will be situated in northern Scotland.
