LivCor - solutions to save lives The William H. Montgomery, MD, Excellence in Education Award Much to my surprise and joy I was recently advised that I had won this prestigious award for my presentation at the Citizen CPR Foundation (CCPRF) ‘Cardiac Arrest Survival Summit’ held in San Diego late last year. I’ve been advised that presentations are judged based on the following criteria: - Value of the content to the Summit audience - Quality of teaching methodology - Innovation - Presenters’ knowledge of the subject matter - Degree to which the objectives of the presentation were achieved - Overall quality of presentation The presentation entitled “New Technology that will finally close the current Survival Gaps and status-quo for OHSCA survival rates” was judged to be the outstanding #3 presentation at Summit 2023 as scored by attendees in the presentation audience and as discussed/selected by the selection committee and the CCPRF Board of Directors. Innovative technology in the form of #CellAED as well as learning CPR and Defibrillation #https://lnkd.in/gRNT4Upj can definitely help revolutionise the saving of lives from Out of Hospital Sudden Cardiac Arrest (OHSCA). #CASSummit2023 #paramedic #citizencpr #suddencardiacarrest #resuscitation #publicsafety #cprtraining #defibrillation #workplacewellbeing

Perception vs. Reality of Elapsed Time During Prehospital Airway Procedures: In prehospital resuscitation procedures, there's often a gap between perceived and actual time elapsed. This difference can affect outcomes. Our recent study highlights the time-distortion disparity, particularly in laryngoscopy times for patients being intubated, and has helped inform the development of a strict 60-second limit during prehospital intubation, which we refer to as "one look, one attempt, one minute." Additionally, mentoring students like Daniel Shou is a deeply rewarding part of my career. Great work, Daniel and team! https://lnkd.in/ee8bj5Ux

How can first responder status improve emergency medical outcomes for rural communities? AirLife Utah, operated by Air Methods, has received first responder status at its Brigham City and Lehi bases, allowing faster response to emergency scenes in northern Utah and western Wyoming. This designation enables AirLife crews to land directly at the scene and begin patient care before other responders arrive, a crucial advantage in remote areas. Erik Bornemeier, Air Methods account executive, highlighted that this status allows crews to reach patients quicker, significantly benefiting emergency response in rural locations. South Lincoln EMS supervisor Scott Meyers, MBA, IPEM, CMTE emphasized the importance of air medical services, noting that ground transport can take hours to reach Trauma 1 hospitals. AirLife Utah’s first responder status strengthens its role in the emergency response system, enhancing patient outcomes through timely care and the ability to administer whole blood in flight. How will this development impact emergency response in rural Utah and Wyoming? While we would like you to learn from us in-person, it’s hard to argue that there are other organizations out there that also provide quality content and many are available online. One of our favorites is FOAMfrat that has close ties to WI (their Medical Director is a UW Health Flight Physician). Even if you don’t pay for their online training and weekly live classes, they have an excellent blog that is FREE for everyone. Admittedly they do speak mostly to the higher level providers (Paramedic and Flight Medics), but their content is great for ALL levels of providers (yes, even you EMRs). Give them a look and see what they offer. We have the direct link to their blog below. • https://lnkd.in/gvcxnDXu • #FOAMfrat #EMSblog #ContinuingEducation • #PublicSafetyTrainingCenter #PSTC #PublicSafety #TrainingCenter #StopTheBleed #AmericanHeartAssociation #AmericanRedCross #CPR #BLS #ACLS #PALS #AED #EMS #EMR #EMT #AEMT #Paramedic #FireServices #Firefighter #LawEnforcement #PoliceOfficer #SheriffDeputy #911Dispatcher #ETC #IAED

I'm excited to share that I have completed the Critical Care Airway Management eLearning course by ACEM. This course provided valuable insights through scenario-based learning, covering the following key topics: • Uncomplicated Airway Management (RSI and procedural sedation) • Alternate Intubation Techniques (ETT over bougie, video laryngoscopy) • Managing Unexpected Challenging Airways • Airway Complications in Asthma and Sepsis #CriticalCare #AirwayManagement #ContinuousLearning #EmergencyMedicine #ACEM

If you want your EMS service to be patient-centric, then accept this truth… Provider-Centric = Patient-Centric. Putting your providers first, investing in their careers and livelihood, and managing their workload with compassion and grace, are a good foundation to elevating your department/agency’s profile. #EMS #IAFF #patientcare #workersrights #firefighter #firebasedEMS #qualitycare #labor

Following a recent Quality Improvement Outcomes Framework Review, by the NHS England Knowledge and Library Team, we are delighted to announce that we achieved all of the 16 Essential Indicators that are used to assess a Knowledge and Library Service, 7 of these at Good and 9 at Established. Our team has worked incredibly hard to achieve this significant improvement on the last Quality Report from 2020-21 and that hard work has paid off. We are looking forward to using the Patient First methodologies adopted here at Medway NHS Foundation Trust to continue to improve going forward. 😁 😁 😁 🙌 🙌 🙌 #quailtyimprovement #knowledgeandlibrary #patientfirst #celebratesuccess

🚨 Are you an Emergency Medical Services trainer? Read on! 🚨 For emergency medical professionals, no two calls are the same. One day, you might be treating a patient in a cramped apartment, the next, responding to an accident on a busy highway. Mobile simulation training allows future and current EMS and EMTs to practice in non-traditional spaces, such as ambulances or various real-world environments. By training in actual environments in which EMTs will work, they can better understand the spatial constraints, equipment, and logistics challenges they will encounter, improving their efficiency and effectiveness during emergencies. 👉 Discover more creative uses for mobile simulation >> https://hubs.li/Q02NPpk50 #EMS #EMT #EmergencyMedicalServices #EMSTraining #EMSSimulation #EMTSimulation #Paramedic #Firefighter #Ambulance #MobileTraining #MobilsSimulation #EmergencyMedicine #EmergencyServices #EmergencyMedicalService #EmergencyMedicalTechnician #EmergencyTraining #SimulationTechnology #HealthcareSimulation #TeamTraining #InterprofesssionalTraining #NAEMSE #NAEMSE24
